AN: This is my fourth Kabby one-shot! I really love this ship though, and there needs to be more fics with these two. Now, I should warn you about this one-shot, it contains mentions of self-harm and scars, so in case...you don't have to read if so.

Marcus felt the layer of sweat on his face, as he walked to medical. So this is a heatwave?, he thought, as he eyed everyone in Camp Jaha, who were enjoying the intense heat that had started, just two days ago. Lots of people were lying on the ground on their coats, eyes closed. Everyone had taken off the layers of clothing they were wearing, and decided to start sunbathing, something people on earth did, years and years ago. Marcus could only sigh, as he walked past. He didn't like the intense heat. He was still wearing his usual jacket, and was in no mood to go and join the rest of his people, sunbathing.

When Marcus finally made it into medical, he noticed that the person he had came to see, was nowhere to be seen. The only person in there, was Jackson. "Oh, hi Kane," he said, giving him one of his kind smiles. Marcus just nodded, looking round the room. "S-she's not here. She is taking a break near the private stream, no one really goes to," Jackson told him. Marcus's head snapped up at that. "She's out by herself?," he asked Jackson, starting to feel panicked. "Uh, yeah. She didn't want to be disturbed, I guess. I did tell her that she should get someone to go with her...but...you know Abby" Jackson replied, looking down at the floor guiltily. Marcus looked at him, and sighed. Of course, he knew Abby. He knew her so well. Marcus turned around to leave, but not without thanking Jackson, first. Jackson just nodded, looking relieved.

It only took him twenty minutes to find the stream she was at. He could understand why she picked the place, when he saw it. The stream was so clear, and there was plenty of shade, thanks to the beautiful green tree's surrounding it. There was plenty of space, but it had a vibe about it. Like, it was a secret, and that was the way it should be kept. He'd been here before. One day, when he needed time to himself. To think. He never knew Abby would find this place too. Yet she had.

There she was near the stream, lying down on her blue tattered jacket, her black sweater underneath her head, being used as a pillow. She had also took off her boots, leg warmers, and socks, leaving her in her black vest top, and her grey combat pants, that were rolled up to her knees. She had her eyes closed, and a small smile was on her face. Marcus could only stare at her for a few seconds, before he shook his head to refocus himself, and walked over to her.

"Enjoying the sun, I take it?," he says. Abby jumps up in shock, looking around, until she see's him standing over, a cheeky smirk on his face. Abby stood up off the ground, and looked at him, not impressed at all. "Well...I was, until you came and scared me. Seriously, Marcus, are you trying to give me a heart attack?," she said. "Sorry...," he muttered. "Jackson told me you were here...alone. Abby, you need to be careful. Leaving camp like that..." he said, the worry obvious in his voice. Abby looked at him softly. "Well...I'm fine, Marcus. There hasn't been any in over a week," she explained.

Abby sat down on her jacket again, and patted the ground next to her. Marcus leaned down onto the ground, and sat next to her. She laid down, while he stayed sat up. Marcus couldn't stop the smirk that appeared on his face. Abby raised an eyebrow at him. "What is it that is so amusing, Marcus?," she asked. "Just...I never thought I'd see the day, where Dr. Abigail Griffin, would be sat sunbathing," he told her. Abby just shrugged at that.

It wasn't until a few minutes later, that Abby lifted her head up off her jacket again, and looked at Marcus. "Marcus, you shouldn't be wearing that jacket in this weather. You'll get heatstroke!," Abby exclaimed. Marcus, who'd been staring at the trees, remembering his mother, turned to look at Abby, and braced himself. "I'm fine, Abby. I'm not that warm anyway," he told her. "Liar. You're sweating, and flushed. Marcus, please, I don't want you collapsing on me," she begged.

Marcus looked into her brown eyes, and saw the genuine worry, in them. Marcus sighed, before take off his black jacket slowly, until he was just in his t-shirt. Abby smiled at him approvingly, until she saw him move his arms, so that the right was covering his left. He looked nervous, and on edge. She saw the worry on his face, and then she became concerned. As she noticed him look down to his left arm, to his wrist, she suddenly understood why he'd wanted to not take of his jacket. His scar.

"Marcus...," she whispered his name, looking into his eyes. He looked down in shame, not wanting to look at her, and began to fidget with his hands. Abby suddenly put her hand on his, and held onto it. He let out a gasp as her hand made contact with his, but he still couldn't look at her. He just watched her hand on top of his own. "Marcus, there is no need to hide this from me," she told him gently. "No one but you and Jaha, know about this, Abby," he said quietly, lifting his arm up, to show the scar on his wrist.

He couldn't forget the first time Abby had seen his scar. She had ran her fingers onto it softly,as if her touch could heal it. She had had tears in her eyes, and had pleaded with him to not try sacrificing himself like that. He had told her his peoples lives, were more important to him, than his own, and if he had to, he'd do what he could. That was when Abby had held onto his jacket tightly, telling him angrily that his life was important, and that he shouldn't think so less of himself, just because of the things he had done. After that, he had stared at her, and told her in a shaking voice, that he was sorry. Then she had held onto his hand, before leaving his tent.

"I don't want people gawking at it and asking questions," he mumbled, still not meeting her gaze. He didn't like what this scar reminded him of. He had gotten away with covering it since, until now... "Well, you don't have to hide it from me, Marcus. You don't need to worry about it, with me," Abby told him gently. She gave him a small reassuring smile. He gave her one back, and began to take off his boots, while she lay back down. He finally joined her, and lay next to her, the side of their bodies touching each others, because of their closeness. They looked at the sky and admire the clouds, took sneaky looks at the other, when they weren't looking.

After what felt like ages, Abby was the first to get up, and went over to the water. Marcus watched as she sat down on one of the rocks, and dipped her tiny feet, into the water. Curious, he got up himself, and walked over to Abby. She was splashing her feet in the water, smiling. Marcus raised his eyebrow at her, and couldn't help but adore the way she smiled as she splashed her feet around. She looked up at him, and grinned. "Try it out, Marcus," she said. Marcus sat down next to her, and put his feet into the water, to amuse her. The water was cool, on his feet. He could understand why Abby had started splashing the water around, as he had the urge to do it, also. Instead, he just swirled the water with his feet a little.

Suddenly, he felt water spray onto him. He turned to look at Abby, who had a guilty expression on her face. "Sorry...splashed too hard, " she said, letting out a small nervous giggle. Marcus grinned, then put his hands in the water, then splashed a little water her way, so it went on her. "Now we are even,"he said, smirking. Abby suddenly looked at him, mischievously. Marcus gulped. Abby kicked her legs into the water, and splashed Marcus with loads of water, so it landed on his head as well. Marcus just watched her in shock, as she started laughing at the expression on his face. "Oh, it is ON, Griffin," he grinned, and then Marcus got up off the rock and walked over to Abby, who's face froze, as she clicked on to what Marcus was going to do. Marcus scooped her up with ease in his arms, bridal style, and began to walk into the water a massive grin on his face. Before Abby registered that she was in Marcus Kane's arms, he plopped her down into the water. "Marcus!," she squealed, splashing a load of water onto his face. He grinned, his hands on her waist, where they had been on, when he had put her down into the water. She slapped his chest lightly. Abby looked at herself, then at him. They were both soaked. Not a bit of them was dry. His hair was stuck to his face, as was his shirt, where she noticed the muscles he had, and found herself blushing. He raised an eyebrow at her again, as he noticed her looking him over. Her hair was in her eyes, stuck on her face, and one of the straps had fallen off her shoulders. He took a hold of it, and pushed it back onto her shoulder. He saw her face, and then blushed, as he realised what he just did."Oh, sorry, it was just...," he began, but she began to smile. His touch on her shoulder, still burned into her skin. Suddenly, Abby turned round, a panicking. "Whats's wrong,", he asked. "Nothing, nothing now," she replied. "I thought I lost my necklace, but it's back in my pocket in my jacket,", she said, looking back to the rock, her back facing him.

Marcus froze. Her shirt must of gone up, when they were splashing about, as he could see the bit of skin. The skin that had lots of scars on it. Abby turned round, smiling back, until she saw the expression on Marcus's face. "Marcus?," she called back to him. He was looking at her. She followed where his gaze was, until she noticed the bit of skin showing, where her shirt had gone up. She rushed back to him, and he looked down, not meeting her eyes again. "Hey. Hey, Marcus, look at me,"she asked him, gently. When that didn't work. Abby put each hand on the sides of his face, and gently lifted his head up, so his eyes met hers. They were full of pain. "Hey," she whispered. "Marcus, I forgave you, remember?" she told him, her voice quiet and gentle. She rubbed his cheeks with her thumbs, hoping that would get him to calm. "I shouldn't have ever done that to you," he blurted out, disgust in his voice. "I broke the rules, Marcus...," she began, but he cut her off. "I went TOO far!" he cried. "It happened, Marcus. I know you are sorry, and I have forgiven you. We need to move past this, she whispered, her thumbs still rubbing gently over his cheeks. She noticed the few tears that fell from his eyes, and she wiped them away. "I-I'm such an awful-," "No. You are not," Abby replied. Then, he felt her wrap her arms around his neck. She felt his head lay on her shoulder, as she pulled him in closer. His arms around her waist.

It was silent for a while. She heard his quiet sobs that he was trying to hide, and she just held him close. She felt his hands go towards her back, and she felt his fingers touch the rough bits of her skin, where her scars were. He pulled his hand off, nervously. Abby took one of her hands away from his neck, and reached for his hand, and pressed it to her back. "It's ok, Marcus," she whispered. He began to stroke over her scars softly and gently, while Abby sighed into his shirt, holding onto him. He then began to trace random patterns on her back, slowly, and soft. "I really am sorry, Abby," he whispered. "I know you are, Marcus," she replied back." He lifted his head off her shoulder, and wrapped his arm around her waist, protectively. They both looked at each other, not saying anything. Just staring. Marcus leaned his head forward to rest on hers, and closed his eyes. Abby did the same, and wrapped her arms around his waist.

They both stood like that in the water for a while, not speaking to the other. Just holding onto each other, and enjoying the others company.
