Midoriya hitched another deep breath in, trying to keep it as steady and as quiet as he possibly could when he released it again. Despite his efforts it still felt as if his breathing was so loud it practically vibrated off the walls back at him as if it was blaring music. Each almost hiccup that came up his throat seemed to grow in volume as time went on.

He honestly debated, several times, on getting up and leaving the bed. Going into another room, maybe the bathroom, as cliche as it was, or maybe the living room. Somewhere he could give into the flashbacks of his dream and let loose without waking up Todoroki.

Watery eyes flicked over to where his boyfriend was peacefully sleeping. He couldn't actually see him properly, only a small sliver of moonlight made it through a space on the curtains, but it was enough to see the outline of where he was. A small puff of, seemingly glowing, white hair could be seen from underneath the blanket. Todoroki got very hot during the night, his fire quirk activating enough to release heat like it was a built in, personal heater. Despite that he still preferred being completely covered from head to toe with their heavy blanket, always wearing sweatpants and a shirt to bed.

He released a laugh through his nose, close to sounding like a muffled snort. Unfortunately that created enough of a noise to cause Todoroki to flinch.

Freezing every muscle in his body, Midoriya bit deeply into his bottom lip to halt its quivering, holding his breath inside his lungs even if it hurt. A deep, sleep filled sigh was heard from beside him as he felt the mattress move and dip as Todoroki shifted around till he was laying on his back. Several minutes ticked by and no other sound or movement was heard from the man so Midoriya decided to release the held breath in one large whoosh.

He didn't account for it to come out mixed with a loud, wet shudder that ended on a choking sob. His hand slapped over his mouth, not even thinking about how loud it sounded as it echoed through the stillness of the room, in a sad, sad attempt to try and stop the breaking of the dam. Large, wet tears finally fell past his lashes and rolled in long, staining trails down his cheeks and onto the hand covering his mouth. They pooled in the creases of his hand and made a gross feeling mess as he sniffled back snot that threatened to slide from his nose.

Forcing in another shuddering breath he stopped trying to force it back. There was no way Todoroki didn't hear him now, so there was no reason to bother stopping it, no reason to try and remain quiet in his sorrow.

All from a stupid, obviously not real dream.

No. It had been a nightmare. A nightmare where he had to hold his mom in his arms while the life slipped from her. Because he wasn't fast enough to get to her to save.

Midoriya's eyes slipped shut, his wet, sticky lashes tickled the tops of his cheeks. Closing his eyes had brought forth more tears to flow into the ever growing mess that was his face. He barely felt the blankets being pulled away and the large shake of the bed as Todoroki sat up against the headboard next to him. A cool hand was felt through his think tank top as Todoroki rubbed his hand across Midoriya's back in slow, smooth circles. He did, however, hear the muffled yawn, causing a shot of guilt to creep into his chest.

He tried to open his mouth, to speak out an apology, as his hand slipped away, but all that came out was a stuttering of 'I's and more wet choking. Todoroki shushed him, pulling his head into the crook of his shoulder. Midoriya went willingly, turning his face into he others neck and relishing in the cold feeling seeping through, Todoroki's ice quirk kicking in more now that he was awake, it felt comforting on his warmed skin.

"Want to talk about it," Midoriya shook his head. This wasn't his first nightmare and it wasn't his first breakdown. Todoroki was more than used to it by now, so he nodded and simply leaned his head against Midoriya's as he let his boyfriend cry it out against his shoulder. It didn't take long for the material of his sleeping shirt to become soaked through with Midoriya's tears and his quirk made it feel all the more chilly but he ignored it in favor of continuing to rub the slow circles into the others back. After a few minutes, when the sobs quieted a bit and the shudders turned into small vibrations as he breathed in and out, Todoroki slipped his hand under the material of Midoriya's tank top.

The muscles his fingertips touched twitched and rippled at the attention he gave as he dug them in and started massaging the flesh instead of just rubbing circles into it. It gifted him a small, happy moan from Midoriya as he worked away the kinks and tenseness from him.

They sat together like that for the better part of an hour. Todoroki knew it must have been one of his worse nightmares since it took so long for him to calm down from it enough to fully relax into his side. Once the sobbing stopped completely, the vibrations ended, tears almost completely stopped, he shifted them both back down into the warming comfort of the blanket until they laid against each other on the mattress. Todoroki supporting most of Midoriya's weight as he laid across Todoroki's chest, his head supported by a chilled arm as one of his legs slid between Todoroki's.

"You going to be okay?" Midoriya shrugged and mumbled out a response that Todoroki didn't hear. Huffing out a small laugh he lifted a finger to Midoriya's chin and gently forced him to look up at him. When their eyes met he felt a tug in his chest, the barely there moonlight coming into the room highlighting just enough of Midoriya's face for his to see how swollen it was. He guessed that Midoriya had been crying longer than he thought, not wanting to wake him up.

Sighing sadly he leaned forward and slid his lip ever so softly against Midoriya's, not quite a kiss just more of a whispering brush against the others. That was all he had been planning but Midoriya apparently needed more, and he wasn't going to say no or deny him any of the comforting he clearly needed.

Midoriya's hand bunched up in his shirt so tightly his knuckles had to be white with the sheer force as he leaned into the kiss, carelessly moving his lips across Todoroki's. He knew the kiss was gross and messy, wet with what he hoped was just his salty tears, and he definitely knew that he was focusing all of his fears and doubts into it. But Todoroki didn't seem to mind as he caressed a hand over his cheek, thumbing along the tacky wetness still lingering there, in slow swipes as if he was trying to wipe the streaks from existence. So he gave into his desire to take anything and everything he could from the kiss. Take everything and anything Todoroki was willing to give him until they both slipped back into sleep.

In the morning he would open up about the nightmare. He would expose the fear and doubts that tore into him tonight when he'd woken up in the darkness of their bedroom. But for now, he just wanted to lose himself in the loving touch he was receiving.
