Author's note: I have decided to begin some short challenge stories. I am inviting two of my friends to join me in this adventure so hopefully there will be two or three parts to each challenge: my part, my friend's part, and my other friend's part. If you are interested in joining this adventure please PM me. I will love to have my readers participate. So here is Challenge 1: Candy.

Challenge 1: Candy

Sweet Tooth

by narniagirl11

Seven-year-old Peter stuck his finger in the bowl of powdered sugar.

"Peter Pevensie!" his mum exclaimed, swatting at him with her spoon. Peter tried to look innocent while hiding his hand behind his back. Little Edmund wandered into the kitchen, observing his mum stirring a pot of thick sugar on the stove and his older brother standing on a chair pulled up to the counter.

"Whatcha doin'?" Edmund spluttered.

"Hi Eddie!" Peter waved. "I'm helping Mum."

Edmund scowled. "Don'tcha call me 'Eddie'!" Peter contemplated this request for a moment.

"Alright Ed," he agreed, which made Edmund smile. "-ddie!" Edmund scowled fiercely again.

"Boys," Mrs. Pevensie intervened. "Go play with your sisters." Grumbling, Peter and Edmund trudged out of the kitchen.

"Don't want to play with no girls," Edmund pouted. They entered the family room where Susan, who was six, was trying to play dolls with two-year-old Lucy. Unfortunately, Lucy thought eating the dolls was more entertaining.

"No, Lucy!" Susan squealed, grabbing her doll away from her sister. Lucy's lower lip began to tremble and her eyes filled up with tears. Shyly, Edmund stepped forward – before Peter could – and picked up his little sister.

"Lucy," he whispered. "You want to go catch bugs?" Next to eating dolls, Lucy loved to eat the bugs that Edmund caught. She nodded excitedly. Edmund whisked Lucy out of the room before Peter or Susan could protest. That meant that Lucy could eat all the bugs she liked and Peter was stuck playing dolls or tea party with Susan – not that he minded too much.

Three hours later, the boys scampered back to the kitchen.

"What is that, Mum?" Peter wondered, staring at the lump of sugar-coated gelatin sitting in front of him.

"It's an old family recipe," Mrs. Pevensie answered. "Turkish Delight." Always the sweet tooth of the family, Peter eagerly bit into the candy.

"Yuck!" he spit out. "Are you trying to kill me?" Edmund closely watched his brother's reaction. Edmund took a small bite and, surprisingly, liked it.

"Yum!" he exclaimed, his mouth now stuffed with the candy and powdered sugar coating his lips. Mrs. Pevensie beamed before wiping some of the sugar off her son's mouth. Peter glared jealously at his little brother, while Edmund savored the sickeningly sweet taste of the candy…and his triumph over Peter.
