Author's note: This was a poem I wrote last year on a whim. I can't remember what inspired it, but this is one of my favorite poems so far. Enjoy and R&R!
Dance of the Moonlight Megami
By Kuroneko
Luminescent wings under starlit skies
Catch the silver of the moon in arabesque reprise
Softly fluttering through the clouds
One warm September night
Leaving trails of glistening scales
To dance in pale moonlight
Silence of the autumn mists
Have yet to override
The seasonal heat of summer days
And moonlit midnight rides
When the sounds of overlapping waves
Mutter gently sounds of night
The moonlight megami sails along
Bathed in silver light
The clouds embrace with a mother's touch
Her brightly colored wings
A gentle caress with the night wish breeze
And the song that Nature sings
Into the dark abyss of night
The moonlight megami flies
Passing through the feather light clouds
Along the star-patched skies
The shiroi tsuki overhead
Bathes the world in evening light
Natsu yokaze gently blows
Against the megami of the night
To which the goddess softly chirps
To the endless evening song
Her contentment with her midnight dance
The peace inside her strong
Throughout every quiet, peaceful night
The megami still resides
Dancing over crashing waves
In her moonlight-driven rides
The stillness of the Mother Earth
Engulfed in moonlit dress
Embraces our protector thus
In gentle, sweet caress
Until the rays of dawning sun
Give way to fading night
The moonlight goddess dances on
Into the growing light
The silver quickness dissipates
Into a golden ease
While the moonlight megami, airborne still
Sails over glittering seas
