~Mandrakes, Ravenclaws And Kisses~

Albus Severus Potter, preferred name 'Al', was the only Potter child to be sorted into a house other than Gryffindor. He was intelligent, although slightly rebellious, and had been sorted into Ravenclaw six years ago when he had the Sorting Hat placed on his head. His best friend was Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy, also Ravenclaw, and despite their house both of them were known for getting into trouble for the same sort of thing Al's father and paternal grandfather had while they were in school.

Right this moment, the two of them were in Greenhouse Six, working on their Herbology project. They used their detention time with Professor Longbottom to do it, rather than help him with the Devil's Snare that needed to be pruned and re-potted. Scorpius was examining their baby mandrake and making comments aloud, while Al fiddled with his quill and wrote out the most important snippets from what Scorpius was saying. The shorter teen was bent at the waist and leaning on the workbench, his rear end sticking out while he twirled the quill around his fingers. Scorpius stopped mid-sentence when he realised his friend wasn't listening to him, and looked to the side to see that Al was staring off into space. He smiled, reaching across the space between them to tug playfully on one of the dyed-dark-red locks of his friend's hair. Al looked at him, blinking his green eyes to focus on the blonde.

"What?"

"You're completely zoned out," Scorpius chuckled, combing his fingers through the shorter teen's hair reflexively. Al grinned sheepishly, standing straight and stretching, his slender body arching gracefully with the movement.

"Yeah, sorry," he shrugged, dropping his arms from the stretch and blinking a few times. "So we almost done?"

"Nearly," Scorpius nodded, then chuckled.

"What?"

"You've got dirt on your cheek." Al scrubbed at his left cheek, but only succeeded in smudging the grubby patch. "Still there." Another rub, another smear of dirt. Scorpius laughed and grabbed hold of Al's chin, rubbing the dirt away with his thumb as he found himself looking into Al's startling emerald-green eyes. He'd removed all the dirt, and now he was simply rubbing gentle circles on the shorter teen's cheek.

"…Scorp?" At Al's half-whispered, half-sighed question, Scorpius' control snapped and he bent down swiftly to plant his lips firmly against Al's. Al's eyes widened, then closed as a sigh escaped the shorter teenager and his arms wound around Scorpius' neck. Their lips and tongues met and moved in sync, the outside world completely forgotten as they indulged in the craving they'd felt for years.

The sound of a throat clearing broke them apart, and Al blushed lightly as the two of them saw Professor Longbottom in the doorway with his arms folded and eyebrow raised, a small smile twitching his mouth.

"P-professor!" Al stuttered, while Scorpius just smirked and slung his arm over the shorter teen's shoulders possessively. Professor Longbottom just smiled.

"I believe it is almost curfew," he said mildly. "Please make sure you are back in the common room before then."

"Yes sir," Scorpius said a little sheepishly, and both he and Al grabbed up their bags to hurry past the Herbology professor and back towards the castle.

Neville watched the pair go, and wondered if that was what Harry and Draco would have been like should they have become friends in their first year.

He would enjoy breaking the news to their parents.
