Hello! Nether Ink speaking...or typing...-.-'. Anyways, this is my first fanfic posted (Yay! XD) so I'm pretty proud of myself. XD Hope you enjoy it and feel free to point out any errors on my part. Of course the annoying disclaimer...I do not own anything or anybody of CLAMP's creation. :)

Fai's P.O.V.

I smiled. Not the practiced smile that I always give, but that one true smile I seem to have whenever the kids, Kuro-pi and myself are alone. Make-shift family or not, I had grown very fond of them. It would've been impossible not to.

"Oi, mage! Are you listening?" That familiar growl interrupted my train of thought. Kurogane was glaring at me again. I laughed, "Yes, Kuro-pi, I'm listening."

He grunted, "You better be." Honestly, I wasn't, but I didn't want to burst his bubble just yet. I was thinking about several other things. For one the ninja himself. I had, for no particular reason, started pondering the effects of my presence for them one night. Thinking of each one them before I reached the last; Kurogane.

The one person who has seen through my facade. The only one who I had ever called by a nickname before. The first person I've loved. I do realize how cheesy that just sounded in my own thoughts. I don't think I want to find out how it sounds like were I to say it out loud.

"Mage!" I turned once again, my eyes meeting the flaring red ones of said ninja. I grinned, "Yes, Kuro-tan?"

"I thought you said you were listening." He accused. I tried to look innocent, "I was, Kuro-puu!" He looked away, "Like hell you were." I sighed in mock defeat, "Alright, Kuro-sama, I wasn't listening. What is it that needs my attention?" He turned to look at me once again, "The kids and the pork bun aren't back yet." I grinned, I wasn't passing this up.

"Aww...is Kuro-daddy worried?" I cooed at him, he took a swipe at me. "Idiot," He muttered, making me chuckle. "They'll be back, maybe Syaoran found a lead." I replied. He shook his head, "He would've come back to tell us."

"Maybe they were too far?" Even to me that had sounded lame. He shrugged. Ah...he really is just a big teddy bear.

"We shouldn't doubt him he can take care of himself and Sakura, but he is rather late. Should we scold at them for arriving late?" I said, teasing him more. He aimed another swipe. Once again dodged.

Then I heard steps from outside, light, as if not to disturb. Where those three expecting something to happen? I grinned, before they ruin my fun...

"You just need a distraction, Kuro-tan." I said.

" A wha-" I took the opportunity and placed a swift kiss on his lips, lingering for a while. Then pulled away quickly as the door opened. Just before turning away I saw his face slightly red, "M-mage!"

The ninja had actually stuttered.

"We're home." Sakura called out softly. I was already at the door of my room.

"Welcome back!" I called down and walked inside. As I closed the door I felt a giddy smile form on my lips.

He had kissed me back.
