A/N: So I don't usually write stories with original characters, but I had written this for someone on a HP page on facebook that I admin and I really liked the way that it turned out, so I decided to post it on here as well. Hopefully you all like it! Leave me a review to tell me what you think! Love you! ENJOY!
Disclaimer: I do not own any part of the Harry Potter franchise...unfortunately. I just take the work of the great J.K Rowling and spin it into my own situations.
The thing Shannon liked most about the astronomy tower was the absolute aura of calm. There was a feeling of weightlessness, like she was part of the universe. The stars mapping out her body until her emotions became a scattering of constellations. It was why she visited the tower so often. Sometimes, she felt as though she didn't belong in Slytherin. The dank dungeon led no path to the moonlit skies; her eyes couldn't wander to search out the crystal studded blanket of darkness that her and her dad spent hours looking at before she had left for her first year at Hogwarts. Tonight especially, her sanctuary was needed. In the Slytherin dorms, the music was shaking the ground, reverberating off the walls, and shaking the furniture. Really, it was a typical Friday night, lights turned down low, bodies intermingling with each other in private displays in corners of the room. Here she could escape. Closing her eyes, she took in a deep breath, and was about to release it when she heard the harsh sound of the door opening. Whipping her head around, she saw the iconic red hair of a Weasley.
"Fred? What are you doing here? You graduated last year!"
"Well, my dear Shannon, it seems that my dearest sibling Ronald forgot something in my flat the last he visited, and he couldn't go on without it. I, being the gracious brother I am, decided to come and give it back to him. Plus, I hadn't seen you in forever…you didn't visit me over the summer, naughty Shannon," he smirked and moved closer to her, then plopped down next to her, "You know, I miss these nights. You and me. Staring out of this tower and looking at the stars. It's not the same without you. George usually just makes fun of me. Says I'm looking for something that's not there, that I'm wasting my life away in front of a window," his voice went down to a whisper and his breathing became slower, more labored.
"I miss it too, Fred. Just a few more months and I'll be out of here," Shannon sighed.
"Hey, Shannon? What are you doing the Friday after Hogwarts lets out?" he turned his body to examine her face.
"I don't know, it's a little too far away to know exactly. Why?"
"Well, I was wondering if you wanted to go look at the stars with me…maybe with a picnic, um….you don't have to if you don't want to, but I was thinking that maybe we could make it a date?" his cheeks reddened with each mumbled word.
Shannon was shocked for a moment, the breath in her body seemingly stalled as she looked for the right words, "Yes, Fred. I would love to go out on a date with you."
