The Sons of Time

Nathans POV

My life has always been a mess. No matter where I go, bad things always seem to follow me.

My name is Nathaniel Jacobs. At first glance I may seem normal. But trust me, I'm not.

Right now I am on my way to New York, The Big Apple, The City That Never Sleeps.

I've been kicked out of five community homes. You see, I'm an orphan.

My Mother died giving birth to me and my Father went missing shortly after.

I am moving from Chicago. I never really liked Chicago, I don't mind big cities

But Chicago was never really the best place to live. Chicago gangs always seem more

Aggressive than your average New York gang. New York actually doesn't seem that bad.

I just turned Fourteen last Thursday, some birthday present…..

"We are beginning our descent. We will be landing at Newark Liberty International Airport" a voice says on the Intercom.

I emerge from the plane to find a crowd of an impressive size

After scurrying around for a minute I find a woman in her Early-Forties with Raven black hair and Grey eyes

that seem to be watching your every move. She wore a Navy Blue, Striped business suit that is

about one size too small, she also wore High Heels that are approximately four-inches tall.

She held a sign that said 'Nathaniel Jacobs'. I walk up to her and before I can get a word out

She asks "Nathaniel Jacobs?" I slowly nod and add "Nathan for short."

"Very well, follow me Nathaniel" she says as if she didn't hear me.

We weave through the large crowd until we get to the 'Baggage Claim Center'

I wait for a while until I find the familiar black suitcase with yellow stripes, I gripped the handle and

Pull it off of the conveyor belt. The woman is tapping her foot impatiently with her arms crossed.

I just now seem to notice a nametag pinned to her suit, 'Mrs. Kimberly D. Evans' it said.

"We need to keep on schedule and Dilly-Dallying around is not helping" she said clearly irritated.

"Sorry" I silently muttered.

Once again, we are weaving through the crowd; I momentarily see a glimpse of a clock,'6:22 A.M.' it showed.

I left the airport in Chicago at 4:33.A.m. just thinking about how early I had to get up makes me yawn.

I was so wrapped up in my thoughts I did not realize we had stepped into a parking garage.

We walked a while until we came across a black Mercedes.

"Nice car" I say trying to make conversation. "Thank you" she says getting her keys out.

She unlocks the doors to the car and gestures for me to get in.

I open the door and climb in the car. "First we will sign you up at your new school and you will go throughout your school day. Then, I will pick you up and take you to the community home."

I nod slowly. Suddenly my eyelids begin to feel heavy and they droop.

I rest my head against the inside of the car door and instantly I fall into darkness.
