Monday

Mercy High 9:10 AM

Down two halls to the right, a class of freshmen were taking notes. They were all busily writing in their notebooks except for one in the back of the class. She was staring down at an empty page. The bell rang, and the class practically ran from the room, except for the girl. The teacher, ignoring her, shut off the lights. She sat there in the dark staring at the notebook. The next day the teacher walked into her classroom to have a chill come over her. She went to turn on the lights but when she saw the classroom she screamed and ran away. The room had been covered in a thick layer of ice, a place Dr. Freeze would have been comfortable with. The girl was still sitting in the same desk, in the same corner, with the same look on her face.

A few hours later…

The place swarmed with FBI agents. Agents Scully, Doggett, and Reyes were among them. "What happened here?" Scully asked one of the nearby agents. "The room was covered in ice about five inches thick." He said. "And the student Piper Broke is missing." "Has any one been in the room?" Scully asked.

"No, the teacher says that about five minutes after she called 911 a man took the girl away and the door was iced shut."

"A man?"

"Um, about 6 foot, dark hair, and wearing a suit." Scully sighed and looked at the other agents.

Lazy Man Motel

Piper sat on a worn out, but comfortable bed wrapped up in a wooly blanket. It felt soft against her skin, but no warmth was coming from it. She was shivering like mad and the man that brought her here was on the phone. She could hear him talking but couldn't make out the words. He had turned the televison on for her but she wasn't watching it. She felt cold, she wanted to get into the sun to warm her but she couldn't move. She had to get warm, she had to. Her legs had frozen together and her arms stuck to her sides. Piper wanted the man to help her but he was still on the phone. She had to get his attention but her mouth wouldn't move. Then like a nightmare getting worse, the shivering stopped. She knew now that if she didn't get warm, her entire body would freeze. With all her might she jerked towards the edge of the couch. She jerked again, and again, until finally she fell off with a thud. The talking stopped and she heard the man come over to her. He touched her arm and immediately pulled back. "Help me." Piper whispered through clenched teeth. The man got up and ran away, soon after Piper began to hear running water. The man came back and picked her up. She started to feel dizzy, and she couldn't breathe. Suddenly, she felt something warm begin to flow over her. She was so tired; she closed her eyes because the water just felt so good. The man was shouting, but she couldn't understand. As the warmth blanketed her, Piper passed out.

Mulder was shouting and slapping the girl's face. "Wake up!" He shouted. Her eyes remained closed and a small smile was plastered on her face. Mulder felt the water; it was so cold, which was surprising because a moment ago it was steaming. He let the water drain and turned the shower spout on the hottest it could go. Mulder watched as color came to her face. Her eyes flew open and she started gasping for air. She scrambled out of the tub and jumped into the corner drawing her legs to her chest and stared at Mulder, lying on the floor. "Wow, you are strong." Mulder said sitting up. "Are you alright?" She asked. "I should be asking you that." She brought her hand to her stomach, "Yeah, I think so."
