Merry Christmas and all that fluff! :) This fanfic was loosely inspired by Rascal Flatts' I Melt. BEAUTIFUL song! This could also be considered a one-shot in the Imprinting Series universe...but, not happening for AGES. So...little bity spoilers are coming...unless you guessed or I told you.

Twilight cast its shadows along the walls and Jacob didn't want to admit to the unease he felt at being along in his big, empty house waiting for his lover to return. He was so used to the bickering and the padding of little feet over the wooden floors that the silence within itself was such an odd sound.

It felt strange being without his kids, but the feeling was not unwelcome. It was nice to have some alone time with his mate. Alone time was so rare in their household. If it wasn't one of the kids interrupting them it was his pack or his in-laws. But, somehow, they had managed to procure an evening of peace, quiet, and togetherness.

A sigh left his lips as he glanced at the luminescent numbers of the clock on the cable box. How long did it take for Edward to bring the kids over to his parents' house, really? Jacob shifted on the couch (apparently longer than an hour) and the shifter wasn't any good at masking his impatience. Especially when it had something to do with his elder lover.

It had been years...years since he had imprinted on Edward and yet their love...their relationship still felt new. But compared to the eternity before them, Jacob supposed that fifteen years was still pretty new.

He still felt the same rush of emotion every time Edward whispered that he loved him. His heart still did flips every time Edward kissed him. And his body still burned for Edward and his touch. It was like no time had passed at all. Things were always as they had been and didn't look to change anytime soon if ever.

As he was lost in his thoughts he did not hear the front door open and he did not hear the footsteps leading into the living room, he only realized he wasn't alone in the house when his lover's sweet scent hit his nose. "Edward?" The name slipped from his lips so easily as his eyes darted around the room in search of the elder.

The search was fruitless. His smell permeated the air, but there was no sign of the vampire. Jacob deflated slightly and sank into the back of the couch, heaving a great sigh. Suddenly a pair of pale arms wrapped around him and there was a cool press of lips against the back of his neck. "Looking for me, lover?"

His voice was heavy with longing and it sent shivers of lust through Jacob's spine as he tilted his head slightly to see his lover. "Took you long enough," the shifter murmured, his eyes half lidded as his lover's lips kept brushing over his skin.

Edward chuckled softly, nuzzling the side of his neck before pulling away. "You know our children. They didn't want me to go. Esme distracted them and I slipped away," he replied, a grin on his face as he laid his chin on the younger's shoulder. "Esme's chocolate chip cookies do wonders in tight situations."

A soft chuckle left the shifter's lips. "Too true," Jacob agreed as he turned his head to press his lips against Edward's temple. "You know that Esme's cookies are irresistible."

Edward hummed thoughtfully and one of his hands snagged the shifter's chin, keeping it in place so he could lean over and press a kiss to his lips. "Right now I'm hoping you find me irresistible," he replied, his tone suggestive as his lips curled into a seductive grin.

Jacob opens his eyes. He didn't realized he had closed them. Almost immediately he's caught in his lover's golden gaze and the look was enough to send shivers down his spine. That look, solely reserved for him, never failed to make him melt. It never failed to remind him just how much Edward wanted him...how much the vampire needed him. It never failed to show him how much Edward loved him.
