Written for Shipping Week at the Caesar's Palace forum. Prompt: Pineapple
I did my best, haha.
Yuuri loved the waves almost as much as he loved Victor.
In Hatsetsu, he had three homes as a child: the onsen, the rink, and the beach. He had spent most of his time at the first two, but the beach was where he went to be reminded of hope.
The waves rushing the shore and consistently retreating, the predictable calls of the birds, the breeze against his bare skin… they reminded him of the infinity of time, that everything would be made right in the end.
When Yuuri first walked with Victor on the beach in Hatsetsu, he had wondered if Victor felt the same, if he felt the strange primal summoning of the distant horizon.
When Yuuri won gold for the first time, at Four Continents, first he drank a pineapple soda, and then he flew home to Hatsetsu and dragged Victor to the beach. Because, well, first of all, if he was going to finally talk about the wedding now that he had a gold medal, Yuuri would prefer for it to happen at the beach, where the two of them had first started to talk as Yuuri and Victor and not just Student and the Legend.
They walk in comfortable silence, Victor kicking off his shoes and pineapple print socks to tread in the water.
And, you could call Yuuri cheesy, but he couldn't help but notice the symbolism of a rising sun smiling on Victor's form as if to bless him with a new beginning. A new season. A new home. A new outlook. A new life with Yuuri.
The beach meant more than its definition, as did everything that Yuuri did.
Yuuri kicked a little water at Victor's exposed ankles and laughed when Victor kicked a dollop of sand back. You're cute today.
Victor put his arm around Yuuri in a hug, conveniently pressing a handful of sand into Yuuri's back pant-pocket. What would I do without you?
Eyes twinkling in response, Yuuri pushed Victor away before changing his mind and catching him by the tie. He reeled him in. Love you.
