"I can catch this troublemaker." Edward Lupin said, rolling a pen between his fingers as his supervisor watched him. "It's not like anyone else can just change appearance at will. I'll make sure to catch this person in a heartbeat."
"Thank you Sir." Ginger Maddison said with a smile. "I knew you were the right person to ask."
Edward looked down at the advertisement posted in the Daily Prophet. 'I can find your families old treasures!' It proclaimed. Ginger made her way out as Edward began to write a response.
'I am in need of a necklace that belonged to my mother. She was last seen wearing it at the Battle at Hogwarts. It's not been seen since. If you think you can take on this task, please let me know. I am including a rough sketch of it as described by my family.
Jean Gray'
Within a day, Edward had gotten a response from this mystery person. "I can have it to you in a week. Please meet me at Eldertown Graveyard. It's very private. If you bring any Aurors with you, you will never see the necklace again.'
Edward frowned. He needed to do this task on his own. A week later he changed his appearance to that of a young woman with brown hair. He then apparated to the location. A man stood there, obviously pleased by the appearance of Jean.
"Nice to meet you Miss Gray." The man said with a smile. He walked forward and held out a hand. After shaking hands, Edward crossed his arms in front of him, his female character looking as bored as he felt. She sighed. "Did you really find my mother's pendant?"
The man nodded and reached into his cloak and pulled out a silver necklace that was barely touched. It was far too silver. Far too perfect. Edward rolled his eyes. "That is not my mother's pendant."
"Why would you say not, young lady? I brought you a pendant just like hers."
"Just like, but it's not…" Edward could feel anger rising and he tried to control it, but suddenly the man screamed and Edward frowned, but then he noticed the lemon-colored hair in his face. "Ugh!"
"You are not a Jean Gray, are you?!" The man accused angrily and put the necklace back in his cloak. He was about to run off when Edward grabbed him.
"I am not. I am Edward Lupin." Edward transformed back to his normal look. "And your days of being a fraud are over. Just because someone has an attachment to something does not mean they want some knockoff. I actually wanted my mother's necklace."
The man just glared at Edward. Edward got another praise from his office, but he did wish he had more of his parents. He'd honestly hoped it wasn't a case of fraud... but then again, the world is full of it.
