When they were young Tsunade and Orochimaru were dating in secret, one day Tsunade had become pregnant but had lost the child. Causing Orochimaru to go further into his research, one day she had gotten him out of it for a day and three weeks later found out she was carrying again. She had planned to tell him that evening she found out, but he never showed up after she had called to him telling him to have dinner with her. When her teacher had come to her door Tsunade's world fell and everything she knew spilt out much to Sarutobi's surprise. With her teacher's help, Tsunade was able to hide her pregnancy by going on a very long mission; only she was never assigned a mission. Sarutobi Hiruzen hid Tsunade in the emergency buildings attached to the mountain, only his daughter and wife kept a constant watch of Tsunade's pregnancy. Once Tsunade's child was born, she was over joyed to find herself with a girl. A girl without a single dark hair and when she opened her eyes; Tsunade almost dropped her. Sarutobi looked over Tsunade's shoulder to see that the tiny baby had her father's strange yellow eyes.
"What do I do?" Tsunade asked, tears falling from her eyes, "What if he comes back? What if he sees her? He'll put two and two together," Tsunade raised her daughter up to rub her cheek against the almost bald forehead of her daughter. "If he sees her he'll try to take her," Tsunade sobbed, "he'll take her away…" Sarutobi placed a reassuring hand on his student's shoulder.
"He'll never take her away from you," Sarutobi said, "He'll never see her because she won't catch his attention." Tsunade looked up at her teacher with wiry hope, "if she has your forehead in the future, like she does now, then we'll just have to brush her hair over it." Tsunade nodded her head, her eyes on her daughter; she was horrified that Orochimaru had become such a monster and she was appalled that she had ever let him touch her. But she was more than just proud of her daughter, regardless of her baby's father, Tsunade was proud of her child. Her daughter only shared the same yellow eyes as her father, but everything else about her, screamed Tsunade.
"She'll grow up to be very beautiful," Sarutobi whispered as the tiny baby took hold of his finger and giggled.
"I won't be able to teach her a lot," Tsunade said with a soft smile "only the Taijutsu basics, anything more than that will ring alarm bells for everyone else…him included"
"Yes," Sarutobi sighed out regretfully, "What is her name?" Tsunade paused as she thought about it for a moment.
"How about… Mebuki?" Sarutobi smiled down at his proud student.
"A beautiful name for a beautiful girl," Tsunade smiled up at her teacher, laughter echoed in the stone room, Sarutobi's wife and daughter smiling at the teacher and student as they laughed together; tears forming in their eyes.
They were the only other ones who knew of Tsunade's pregnancy and the only ones who knew who the child's father was.
As the years passed Tsunade found that her daughter had her yellow hair and was beyond pleased to see that her daughter's eyes turned from the haunting yellow of her father's to their own unique shade of sea green. She knew green eyes were common in her father's family tree; she just figured that they skipped a generation. Then came the day that Tsunade and her daughter could no longer hide within the mountain of the Hokage monument, her daughter had made genin at last and Tsunade was no longer needed. Mebuki knew and understood she could never call Tsunade mother outside of her own mind, just as Tsunade knew she could never call Mebuki her daughter. The day she left her behind was the day Mebuki promised to stand out so that only Tsunade could find her; Tsunade had laughed and agreed. They both knew that even if they had seen each other on the streets, they would never be able to go to the other, in less introduced by someone they were both close to.
As the years passed Tsunade was proud that her daughter had chosen to date a young man named Kizashi. A class mate of hers whom was the definition of a free spirit, her letters often said Mebuki would have to hit him in the head after one of his lame jokes; and she would always reply that he had it coming. Tsunade was even more pleased one day to receive an invite to their wedding, but she cried as she replied that she could not show up to their wedding in person. That did not mean she wasn't there, she pretended to be one of the students that Sarutobi had purposely let go on a field trip near the wedding, she pretended to get lost on the field trip when she arrived at the back of the ceremony; Arriving just in time to watch her daughter exchange vows with the man she loved. After catching her daughter's eye a few times and waving when no one else was looking, she then left the wedding; only to end up in her sensei's office crying her eyes out. Tsunade didn't want to hide her daughter from everyone, but she knew it was the only way to protect Mebuki, and that it was the only way to protect her new family. Tsunade had ended up laughing when Hiruzen had told her that her daughter's husband's surname was Haruno and that she had taken his name since she technically didn't have one; much to her mother's amusement. Tsunade laughed heart fully when Sarutobi made the comment that her new surname fit Mebuki perfectly considering she was anything but a field of flowers. Flowers were subtitle and sweet and innocent, they were the picture of innocence. Mebuki was about as subtitle as a train wreck, she was as sweet and innocent as a hornets' nest and she had her mother's foal temper; minus Tsunade's monsters strength. After the wedding Tsunade had received a few letters from her daughter, but not nearly as many as when she had first left the village and if she were honest with herself, she'd admit to missing the consent flow of pictures and letters that she either burned or held on to until a sticky situation when she did end up burning the parchments. The last letter she received from her daughter told her that she was going to be a grandmother, a grandmother to a baby girl. Tsunade was existed and over joyed at the thought, but she had never received another letter from her daughter again and she feared the worst.
Did Mebuki make it through the birthing?
Did their child survive?
Should she return to Konoha and find out?
In the end, Tsunade did not return to Konoha, she waited patiently for a letter from her daughter and sometimes she'd send one; but she never again received anything from her daughter.
Thirteen years later, the chunin exams with team seven
The second day of chunin exams was the day that Orochimaru decided that he needed to have a serious talk with Tsunade. The boy he wanted for his next vessel had a teammate with odd eyes, an eye color that belonged to his family line only; and he did not recall ever having children. He was slightly displeased that once the team had arrived that the girl hadn't once noticed his presence, or the fact that he had been starring at her none stop for ten minutes before starring at the boy who constantly ignored the pinket and yet neither seemed to notice him. They had ignored his presence for an half hour before their teammate reviled himself to be a dumb ass; then Orochimaru used that opportunity to get a little closer to the group. He decided that once the second part of the Chunin exams were done, he'd have to do a little research on the girl, although his primary focus was on the Uchiha survivor, he briefly wondered if his lack of interest in the pink haired girl was a tall-tell sign. In the pralimaries, He was impressed that she had hit the blond so harshly that it reminded him of Tsunade (which only confirmed his thoughts) but not so happy about it taking so damn long; he was pleased that no one else seemed to notice him watch the girl's match a little too closely. He was mildly disappointed to find that the match was a tie, but was contented to find that she had potential; a potential that if left untaught she would never get much farther than she was.
So he used the fallowing month to do as much searching as he could, the only thing he found interesting about the girl was her parents. Her father Kizaki and her mother Mebuki Haruno, her father came from a long line of Haruno's in the village. Her mother was an orphan with blond hair and green eyes. When Orochimaru had first caught sight of the man greeting his daughter home, he was mildly surprised to find the man had purple hair, until Kizaki turned and the sunlight lit his hair like fire crackers revealing it to be a purple-pink color. Orochimaru watched as Kizashi stepped aside to show Mebuki step out of the house with a frying pan in hand, he was mildly impressed with how the mother and daughter fought. The girl lasted longer against her mother and was faster than she was in the preliminaries against her childhood friend. It was only when both Haruno's jumped away from each other and that sunlight filtered through their emerald eyes that Orochimaru remembered that just before he was caught by his sensei, Tsunade had asked him for dinner. She had a surprise to tell him, but she wouldn't say a word about it until he had dinner with her. Now he understood what it was she had wanted to tell him, and he couldn't blame Tsunade for not telling anyone about their child. Mebuki's life was a lie, a lie that no one but Tsunade and those closest to her knew about; Orochimaru doubted that even the woman's husband knew of him. But then again, Orochimaru figured that Tsunade hadn't told Mebuki anything at all; so she was most likely as clueless as her pink haired daughter. And truthfully, Orochimaru didn't mind that much; he had more than a few enemies searching for a way to draw him out and kill him. If any of them found out he had a daughter and granddaughter then both of them would be tortured and killed, just for the simple fact that they were related to him.
So Orochimaru didn't pay them any mind, it was best to keep them safe; least of all he caches Tsunade's wrath.
