Brave

I can be that, if you want me to be.

I can be fearless for you:

Confident, strong, unyielding.

Is that what it means to be brave?

I could never be like you,

Plunging ahead, rarely thinking.

Sometimes I think you have the devil's luck.

Running forward

Straight as an arrow—

You know what you must do

With no hesitance of gray

Only sharp white

And deepest black;

That's all it is to you.

That's bravery, I think.

The will to do what you have to

No matter what, where, when, or why.

I could say you don't care

But that wouldn't be you, would it?

So grit your teeth

Grin and bear it

Carry your sins on your shoulders

Hide all your sorrows and pain.

You can do it;

You're brave.
