Chapter One
This darkness couldn't be natural. It seemed to wrap itself around me in a false comforting blanket.
A tingle, in what I realized was my finger tips.
I wiggled them on instinct to get rid of the tickle left behind.
A chilly ghosting of fingertips could be felt across my cheek.
I opened my eyes scared of what I'd see.
Stars, a vast horizon of stars painted across the sky filled my vision. As I admired the stars, a sudden tension grasped my lungs. I opened my mouth, and sucked in air as fast as I could.
A face appeared admist the stars, and I stopped gasping as it did. He had bright blonde hair, and a pair of the most startling blue eyes I think I had ever seen. I just couldn't remember…
"Dawn?" he asked, a very concerned look on his face.
"Who?" I immediately found myself asking, and then covered my mouth with my hands upon hearing my voice. It was just strange after coming out of that vast and silent darkness.
The strange guy's face seemed to change to an unreadable expression, before he smiled softly at me. Seeing this gave me a warm feeling deep within my gut. If he is smiling, that must be good.
"Who are you?" I found myself asking, needing an answer.
"I'm David, and I'm going to take care of you." He answered, before scooping me up quicker than I could protest.
"What are you doing?" I asked alarmed by his actions.
"We can't stay out in this field forever can we?" He retorted, giving me a very smug smirk. I found myself flustered at his condescending answer to my legitimate question. It was after all a very legitimate question considering I had no idea who this guy was.
"You might want to close your eyes." He suggested looking down at me.
"Where are we going?" I asked staring right back into his orbs of baby blue.
"Home." was all he said before a lurch caused me to bury my face into his neck, hiding everything from view.
