James Potter loses his innocents in war.

A word and a death and, suddenly, he no longer see the world in black and white. Hues enter, flushing the earth in colour, and James wonders weather he is dead.

Remus loses his innocents at six – when his control on the world is torn from his hands and instead, he begs for control when grasping at the lose threads of his knowledge. Sirius loses his mind at birth. James understands: when the first words Sirius mumble are a string of Latin and the glare he feels that vibrates through the floor strips the skin of his body.

James loses his innocents in battle.

When people scream, holler and die. A strange dance that continues at full-time despite that he is only just learning the score. For a moment, James can't tell who is who. The flashing of colour, and greys and different shades of black and white confuse him. The curse he is about to sound dies on his lips.

It's all right in the end though; because Peter loses is innocents in war too.
