Lips of an Angel

Prologue: The Apple of Sin

Humans are naturally curious, are we not? God has made us this way, and if he hadn't, not would we have bared the fruit that gives us the "knowledge" of good and evil. Not would we have to work for our food. Not would we have to face the facts of death. It would be Gods oasis of perfection.

The young pink-haired girl listened to the snake, which was full of the knowledge of sins and evil. She was clueless to the real world, of all the things that were things that should be banned - like running around naked perhaps. She was just a child at heart; an innocent little girl who hadn't opened her eyes yet to the reality of the world. And this snake was willing to show her, and she was curious. And as they say, curiosity killed the cat.

"You will be just like God, and will bare the knowledge he does," the snake chimed, his tongue flickering in his mouth and his giant yellow eyes glistening with malice.

His eyes are so pretty, thought the young girl, eyes wide and drawn to the powerful aura that radiated off the reptile. The delicious looking fruit dangled from his tail, beckoning her to it, shining brilliantly against the suns rays. She swallowed a breath, her throat dry and raspy.

"I want . . . to be just like my God," she whispered in a longing voice, leaning in closer to the snake's persuasion, his offer seeming even more tempting than before. The snake waited for her to reach up and grab the fruit, to sink her perfect white teeth into its red skin. Her hand twitched beside her, as she hesitated to reach a hand up.

God had told her not to eat the fruit of the tree, but the snake's reasoning was so much better. All though she didn't want to disobey her master's orders, it just seemed like the right thing to do. The snake held out the fruit, gesturing for her to take it.

"Go on," he hissed, "God won't mind. He's just testing you. He wants you to be like him." The young girl was convinced enough. She grabbed the ripened fruit out of the snakes grip and sank her teeth into it, savoring the delicious flavor of its juices. She gasped, and licked the sap from her lips.

It's so good, she thought, opening her eyes to stare at the snake. She didn't realize she had closed her eyes in the first place. Satan held a horrible smirk on his face, a smug look, because he had beaten God and had stolen his follower. Now all he needed was Adam, the handsome young man with silky pale skin and onyx colored eyes. But Adam was already looking for the young girl, and came just in time to see his friend biting into the poisonous fruit.

His eyes fell into a grave expression, for he had listened to God, and was a wise young man. Eve was such an innocent girl, and was easily convinced by the snake's words of praise and wisdom. He screamed her name, so loud that he startled a few animals in the woods, but it seemed that his pleads could not be heard by the pink-haired girl a few feet in front of him.

It was as if she was in her own little world that he was not apart of anymore. He scrambled forward and stumbled a bit, he tried to reach the girl, as if he could turn time back, but he knew it was already too late. A bright light emanated from the young girl and engulfed his being, and he was no more.

"I want . . . to go back."

"Why? There is nothing there for you anymore . . ."

"There's a voice calling my name . . . Can't you hear it? It needs me."

". . . I can hear it, but I didn't think you could . . . If you really wish to seek this voice out, I will help you, but you must promise not to reveal the truth or let Satan find you. Understand?"

". . . I do."
