Summary: Challenge Response (posted by Sam Fox): A story from either Sam's or Jack's point of view about the events of Desperate Measures. Could even take both points of view if you are really daring ;) (You know the aftermath of Sam being found just the doctors prepare to terminate her, or when Jack is found face down after being shot twice). It could be interesting.

Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters relating to Stargate. They belong to MGM and any of their associates. I'm just playing around with them for a little while!
Authors Note: OK...my REALLY weird interpretation of this challenge! This seriously is NOT the way I wanted this one to go...but I let the fic write itself, not me write the fic...so... here we go! (It's VERY short by the way!) (// Denotes thoughts/flashbacks...you know!!)

//Man down. Colonel O'Neill's been shot. This is Major Carter; I'm in the boiler room. Repeat Colonel O'Neill has been shot. We need an ambulance now.//

Panic; fear; helplessness. The three emotions that I hate to feel.
But I'm feeling them now.

My initial fear was that he was actually dead, and that was it.
Our time was over before it had even begun.
That was until I touched him, and he groaned.

//Oy...//

Relief flooded my body in that single second.

//Sir, are you okay?//

God, please let him be OK.

//I've been shot, Carter.//

Thank god. Sarcasm. He's OK.

// I know. Your vest stopped one of the bullets.//
//I want sleeves on my vest.//

I can't help but inwardly smile. Every feeling I'm having is telling me how glad I am that he's alive. How much I care that he's alive...

// You're gonna be fine. Help's on the way.//
// I'm not kidding. They should put sleeves on these things.//

There he goes again.
Putting the sarcastic spin on a bad situation.
It's his way of dealing with it, and to be honest, this time, I don't think it's a bad one.
And I know why he does it.
Because that's who he is.
