In the Chambers of the Sea
We float together, my beloved and I,
Down deep beyond sun or sky
Feathery fronds of seaweed gently wreathe us
In time with the tides and currents in the silence
That sway us here
In cold embrace.
Here in her domain I am the intruder—
Now, clumsy and vulnerable,
I find myself at her mercy
And she is my protector.
A/N: The title "In the Chambers of the Sea" is a quote from T.S. Eliot's "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" the final stanzas of which I also used for inspiration for some of the imagery in the first stanza my poem.
