The Shrieking Shack was small, but it served as a second home for the Marauders during 'that time of the month.' James stowed the Invisibility Cloak in his pocket before he, Sirius, and Peter transformed. Remus watched his friends turn into a stag, dog, and rat, respectively. Not even a second later, he felt the glow of the full moon on his face, and his own body started to change into the monster that overtook his body once a month.

Finally, it seemed, the sun rose, and the werewolf, once again, became man. Sirius went to Remus' side, returning to his usual form as he did so. The other two regained their human bodies, as well.

James failed to stifle a large yawn as he said, "Hey, guys, that was fun and all, but let's turn in for the night. Come on under the cloak, let's get to bed."

Peter nodded and hurried to comply. Sirius and Remus, however, stayed in their corner.

"Padfoot? Moony? You coming?" James asked.

"We'll catch up with you. Go on ahead. See you in the common room," Sirius responded. His gaze never wavered from Remus'.

"Alrighty, then. You two lovebirds have fun."

Prongs and Wormtail disappeared under the Cloak; the door opened and closed again, and Sirius and Remus were finally alone.

"Pads, can we just go to bed? I'm tir—" Remus started, but his words were cut off as Sirius' lips met his.

Figuring there'd be plenty of time to sleep later, Remus kissed him back. Sirius' lips were soft, yet firm. Strong, yet delicate.

Nearly an hour after half of the Marauders left, Sirius and Remus made their way out of the Shrieking Shack, down through the tunnel and back through the Whomping Willow's secret passage.

They laughed and smiled together as they made their way across the grounds to the castle's main doors.

Remus pushed the oaken front doors open. This, he reflected, had been one of the better transformations—or at least afterwards. Since his friends had become Animagi—for him, he reminded himself—the full moons had been increasingly more enjoyable. That was, until—

"Black! Lupin! What are you doing out of bed?"

Remus flushed, turning to look at Sirius. The latter glared in the direction of the marble staircase, where Professor Turnbull, their newest Defence Against the Dark Arts professor, stood. He looked furious—he always looked furious, Remus remembered. He quickly finished his descent of the stairs, until he was barely a step in front of Remus' face. His breath was horrid: a mix between onions and old socks, and the glare in his eyes told Remus that the two of them wouldn't get off easily on this one. They were cornered. They had never been caught before—all the teachers knew of his 'problem,' and they were aware of his special rights to be out of bed out of hours. Obviously, Professor Dumbledore had forgotten to mention this to the newest staff member.

"Professor, you don't understand," Remus started.

"Oh, I don't, do I, Lupin? Pray, explain yourselves to me, then."

"We—we have permission to be there. Professor Dumbledore knows, he's approved—years ago, actually."

"And why exactly has the headmaster given you permission to leave your beds in the middle of the night?" Professor Turnbull retorted.

"Well, I—I'm a…I'm a werewolf, sir."
