Hmmph, I decided that I'd try for a something a little darker, regarding Hayate's death, and Yugao's reaction. I'm just doing a few one-shots while I try to make "The Moron, The Creep, and the Failure" with longer chapters. Hope ya' like it.

READ THE DISHCLAIMEH: I do not own Naruto... if I did, Hayate would be alive and gettin' him some ass. Sorry to ruin the tone of the story...

Yugao stood there, clutching Hayate tightly, sobbing into his shoulder as he patted her back comfortingly.

"See, I told you it was -cough- nothing to worry about!" Hayate whispered gently, his cheeks burning red against his smooth, pale skin.

The purple-haired Kunoichi's only response was to hug him tighter, her fingers clutching at his vest as she burst into a fresh batch of relieved sobs.

"It's just a little -cough- throat infection, and the eyes are just a side-effect from the lack of sleep! I've been so caught up on missions lately, I haven't had time for it." he continued, chuckling softly, and looked down at the top of her head lovingly through his sunken and tired, yet blissfully happy eyes.

Yugao released herself from the hug, and stared at a spot on his chest, wiping tears from her face forcefully.

"I'm s-sorry... I was just so worried... it could've been a-anything!" she exclaimed tearfully, and Hayate realised now why she had seemed so worried around him and her team-mates. He simply placed a hand on her cheek delicately, and wiped a tear that had managed to escape her own frantic rubbing.

"Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere soon, whether from illness or enemy... I love you too much to die just yet." the jonin-instructor reassured, and leant in to kiss her soft, wet cheek tenderly.

Hayate's lover smile, in spite of the tears still rolling down her face, then onto his lips. Hayate didn't seem to mind, and continued to kiss her lovingly, his mouth soon meeting hers, and they shared a passionate kiss.

Four months later, soon after the Chunin exams and the invasion of the Sound and Sand villages, Yugao glared down at her lovers name on the memorial stone. She stood there for what seemed an eternity, the wind tussling her long hair, as her heart clenched with a mix of sadness, anger and pain.

"Fucking liar." she spat bitterly, and turned around to walk away, rage and sorrow beginning to take over.

However, as she began to storm towards her house, she bumped into someone. She was about to shout at him, but she quickly recognized the spiky grey hair, and mask obscuring his face. The single eye that was visible observed her, and she could see the sympathy and misery in them.

"You too, huh?" Kakashi mumbled quietly.

Yugao didn't even bother to answer, and instead she flung herself at him.

She clung to the ninja tightly, tears beginning to stream down her anguished face, a strangled sob escaping from her throat.

The silver-haired Jonin simply stood there, allowing her to cry softly into his shoulder, before slowly wrapping his arms around her torso. A tear of his own squeezed from his dark eye, sliding down his masked cheek, as Kakashi Hatake betrayed one of the sacred ninja rules, and wept with her, silently.
