A/N: This is a random attempt of me to try out a new style of writing. Also, the idea came to me while watching As the World Turns, with Luke and Noah. (For the record: Over here, Ameera is still in the series. If any atwt-fan reads this, I hope you know how badly we're lacking behind xD )

I don't own Death Note, nor L or Light (dammit), concrit would be appreciated, and I hope you'll review!

Light entered the building, ready for a new day. He was walking towards his computer – the one next to L's, accidentally – so he could try to find Kira together with the team.

The Kira who had actually just entered the building.

Light had his memories back and was hating every part of it.

He didn't know when he had started harbouring feelings for the eccentric detective. He just knew that he did. And he also knew that even getting his memories back hadn't made them disappear.

One thing that he, in fact, did know, was that L loved him, too.

It hadn't been very difficult when they had been handcuffed together. They would kiss in the bedroom, or even a quick fuck, and that while L knew that Light was Kira. He must have justified it by telling himself that Light didn't have any memories of being Kira and thus wasn't really the mass-murderer they were all looking for.

But that didn't matter anymore, because now he had assumed his other identity again.

Light was still walking towards the room. For safety measures, L had built the computer chamber as far away from the doors as was possible. So he was able to keep on thinking about it without being interrupted too soon by his 'work'.

He missed L. He really did. It wasn't easy to get used to not being around him 24/7.

But hey, maybe it was for the best. Because in the end, Light knew that he would have to kill the detective. Or he would be killed himself.

That simple fact had given him many sleepless nights already and it surely wasn't going to give him much more sleep in the near future.

Well, he was nearly at his destination now. He might as well quit thinking about things that made him sad.

A door, in front of him, opened and L shot out of it. Light kept his face carefully neutral, knowing there were cameras around.

His surprise was big when the detective pulled him into the dark room, locked the door, slammed him against it and kissed him feverishly.

'I couldn't hold myself back,' he breathed as an explanation between kisses.

Light couldn't care less, only pulled L tighter against him as he attacked the other's mouth with so much force that it must have been bruising.

'There isn't much time,' he gasped as soon as he had the chance.

'Doesn't matter,' L replied.

After that, nobody spoke again and all that was heard were faint moans and gaps.

Light knew they couldn't go on like this. One of them was going to kill the other, they must hate each other, even.

And yet they could not possibly give up on this.

They couldn't give up on their only chance for real love.
