The day he betrayed us was a day I will never forget.
He had just won the Pokemon League. He was the all time champion. He was at the top of his game. People all over the world were chanting his name. He was by far the strongest.
It had taken him six long years to get here. But he did, with his eldest friends by his side.
Everything changed in a blink of an eye.
Team Rocket attacked Indigo Plateau, calling out for revenge. And this time it wasn't just Jessie and James. It was all of them.
They wanted him. Told him that they would kill every person in the stadium to make him. Starting with me. The words he told him would haunt me for the rest of my life.
"Don't bother. She's not worth it. I'll join here and now."
He dropped his Pokeballs and took Giovanni's hand. Within seconds Team Rocket was gone. Within minutes I was on my knees, crying.
The other member of our now shattered trio rushed to my side. "Hey," he whispered. "Don't worry. It must all be an act." I prayed with all my heart for those words to be true.
They weren't. Six months passed. Half of the non-Gym towns had been whipped off the face of the planet, starting with Pallet Town. By his hands. Team Rocket was taking over.
My friends and I formed a resistance, called the Protectors. We didn't want any of this madness to happen. We banded together to try to stop it.
That was two years ago. The war has been terrible; more then forty percent of the entire population was either dead or dying.
Giovanni was dead. My ex-friend's Pokemon had seen to that. We had heard rumors that someone took his place, but we didn't know who.
We go back into battle tomorrow. I can only pray, dear diary, that this battle will be our last.
One thing haunts me. The three words I had wanted to say to him. I never told him.
"I love you, Ash Ketchum."

Odd. Maybe I could make a fic out of this…?
