It was a dismally grey day in Konoha. The heavens had already opened up and had let loose a torrent of rain. One lone figure was standing under the Academy's front door's awning, cursing herself for her stupidity.
"I can't believe I forgot my umbrella! I knew it was going rain today, and whenever it rains around here, it always pours. How am I going to get home without becoming totally soaked?" Tenten thought to herself.
So caught up in her self-berating that Tenten didn't even notice the figure slowly making his way up to her from behind. Once he made his presence known with a little cough, Tenten turned around to face a boy with long, brown hair and lavender eyes, holding a large opened umbrella.
"Um, I noticed you don't have an umbrella, I don't suppose you would consider sharing mine, would you?" asked Neji, somewhat hesitantly, unusual for the steadfast, confident young genius.
Tenten blushed, red streaking her cheeks. "N-no, not at all."
Neji held out the umbrella and Tenten stepped into the waterproof sanctuary it provided.
The two walked off, starting up a companionable conversation, while both reveled in the close proximity to each other that a situation such as this one provided.

Allow me to explain.
On the island of Japan, the summer months are their rainy season. You basically don't go anywhere without your umbrella during this period.
In Japanese culture, close contact is uncommon, so for two young people to stand under an umbrella in a very confined space would almost be the equivalent of the two holding hands (almost, I'm sorta generalizing here, but you get the point right?)
The umbrella is also used a symbol of love (sorta) similar to having two names incased in a heart according to Western tradition, to have two names written under a picture of an umbrella is similar to having two names incased in a heart according to Western tradition.
By the way, all of this information came from the manga: School Rumble which is hilarious and you should go read it...right now...what are still doing here reading this? Go read it...
Okay, anyway, I hope that clears things up for you a bit. Yeah I know this thing is way, waaaay short… so sue me. It's fluffle, it's suppose to be short.
