Swimming in the Darkness
Shadow was sailing through the air, after being hit by one of the robots. Due to the conditions, Eggman had decided not to send out any of his robots. Shadow and Rouge were forced into the battle with the Metarex. It was all going fine until Sonic and his group had interfered, bringing their Chaos Emerald, in which the robots had detected and sent in even more elite soldiers. Of course Sonic wasn't fighting with them. He was safely on the ship, away from the dark water.
Shadow could tell they would be the death of him. The hard sheet of water wasn't really much of a pillow, and underneath his wet, black fur, red marks began to form. His ruby eyes slowly opened and stared up at the light that was above him. Compared to the black water the light was eerily white. Strange, yet familiar.
There were shouts from above and then a red cloud swallowed up the white. Robotic parts flew through the air above him, and the water heated up from the freezing temperature to a boiling kettle.
Shadow's legs began to push through the water. He had never been underwater before, unless you counted the showering facilities on Eggman's ship. He slowly ascended but felt a great pain in his shin. Even with his powerful legs, Shadow knew deep down he wasn't made for the water.
Even if he was the 'Ultimate Life Form' he still didnt have gills. Grumbling to himself he sank yet again. Small bubbles rose from his mouth, and then popped when they hit the top. His lungs constricted as they cried for air, threatening to take his life if he didn't comply. He was too tired for a Chaos Control, considering how it wasn't too easy to manipulate time and space, when you're about to drown. Shadow's eyes stung now, so he closed them to ease that feeling.
There were more voices from the outside world, worried ones, some were in pain, and others were just pure shock. He wondered if they were for him. Probably not, but it was nice to think that way. It...was..nice.
He was fading now, it was all going white. White as the light that was once above him.
"..."
OoO
"Hey I think he's waking up."
The soft voice penetrated his ears. His brain was fuzzy but he could swear that the voice belonged to Cream.
"It's about time; I don't enjoy pressing my marvellous lips against a furry, half-dead thing." That voice was Eggman's. Shadow had always wondered why he called himself 'Doctor' Eggman. Now he knew.
Shadow sat up and hacked up a lot of water, as someone rubbed a soothing hand over his back. He had a lot more water in him then he thought.
Everyone was hovering over him, like some sort of fly attracted to a dead carcass. Sonic was making baby noises and caressing his cheek, whilst Rouge rubbed his shoulder muttering things she would have done if his friends hadn't pulled him out in time.
Shadow stopped hacking after a short period and looked up at everyone, swatting Sonic away like an insect. His usual scowl returned to his face and he took a deep breath of air.
OoO
Everyone was sitting on the main deck, even Eggman, whom had stayed behind for Shadow's sake. Everything was quiet, except the quiet hum of the engine. Shadow was staring at his shoes, hating every second of the sickening silence. He felt odd, sad, scared and worried.
Prior to his near death experience, he had felt invincible, unstoppable. He was the immortal ultimate life form. Now he felt weak and pathetic, needing assistance from others and needing life saving precautions.
Perhaps he wasn't who he thought he was.
There! No my urge is gone. Shadow belongs to SEGA not my (sniff).
