Hello, this is Raine, but I didn't write this. Mel did. I'm writing her author's note just to do something out of the ordinary. I think this is a very short, sweet, poetic story. Enjoy!

Mellie: Isn't Raine nice?

Waiting for Eternity

"Where the hell is she?"

Inu Yasha paced in front of the Bone Eaters' Well. The birds gave no notice to this presence and carried on with their peaceful song. The wind dragged on the half-demon's hair, as if telling him enough was enough, leave already.

But he wouldn't leave. Not without her.

"Kagome?" Inu Yasha yelled down the well, his voice bouncing off the cold walls.

He should just leave. Kagome said only an hour, and Inu Yasha had agreed to wait for her if it was just a single hour.

But she wasn't there, and his already short fuse was ready to blow.

I should just go down there myself and get her, was his impatient thought. But he wouldn't go chasing after her. His pride would always come before anything.

It was shocking, really. That dog had only known the young woman for less than a month, and already he was attached to her. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't stop thinking about her, weither or not she was safe, even if she was next to him. Many sleepless nights, he would allow his mind to wander, shifting his gaze from the almighty moon to his own celestial being sleeping beneath his tree.

He was always waiting for her. For her to eat, sleep and do her 'homework'. In truth, he didn't mind as much as he let on. His mind was always full, and he needed time to stop and sort things out. Unfortunately, the half-demon's memories were full of betrayal, murder and hatred. He didn't want to think about that. He wanted good memories. Solely, he had no choice. Simply her face…her face relieved him of his cursed beastly mind. Instead, he was filled with wonder about his future.

He should really just go down there and get her. But an annoying Kagome would be worse than waiting for another hour. Besides, she would probably bring him back something. He perked up at the thought.

Love conquers time, his mother once said to a baby Inu Yasha. It didn't matter to her that he was an entity and she would have to die. As long as she had the time together with her son, she didn't care.

And he didn't care about waiting anymore. She would be back. Just to see him.

Inu Yasha plopped himself down in a comfortable position and got ready to wait for eternity.
