Dead Blonde Girls

Disclaimer- Not mine, so please don't sue me.
Author's Notes- This is short and a little odd. It just popped into my head. It's a Duncan fic, and it's both a future fic and an AU. Well, everything up to "Normal is the Watchword" happens, but no "Driver's Ed". Anyway, this is just short and creepy. That's all. Enjoy.
Pairing- Duncan/Veronica, Duncan/Meg.
Summery- You keep talking to dead blonde girls.
Rating- PG
Spoilers- Up to "Normal is the Watchword".
You used to see visions of your sister.
Lilly would show up and talk to you and you'd be wide awake.
You blamed it on your disease and took refuge in pills to help rid you of visions of your sister. It worked and Lilly went away, though sometimes you wish she hadn't.
Some part of you thinks you'd rather be crazy and see your dead sister standing there, still wearing that stupid pep squad unifrom, talking to you as if nothing's changed, then live in a world where you'll never see Lilly again, never hear her voice again. But, it was done and you never saw your sister again, neither for real or even in hallucination. Lilly was really gone.
You started thinking you were really crazy when you started seeing Meg, you were only on one set of pills now and you had worked through a lot of your issues and come out of the fog you had created after Lilly's death.
But, here you were again, talking to dead girls in broad daylight.
If talking to your dead sister creeped you out, then having conversations with your dead ex-girlfirend took it to a whole new level. You really didn't want to see Meg and you decided, as you took refuge in more pills and denial, that if it was denial that had conjured up visions of Lilly, it was guilt that made you see Meg.
You've always blamed yourself for her death, deep down you think that she wouldn't have been on that bus if it wasn't for you and Veronica.
You figured these visions were a punishment for that crime, but eventually they went away too. Meg didn't try to talk to you anymore than LIlly did, they both left you alone, like you wanted.
When it happens for a third time, you have to wonder if there's really something to it, if you really are seeing dead people.
Veronica's standing there, just like Lilly did, just like Meg did.
You still wonder if you're crazy, but you don't take refuge in pills to rid yourself of her. You once thought you'd rather be crazy than never see Lilly again, even in a haucination, and you know that you'd rather be crazy than never see Veronica again, even if it's your own delusion.
This is the third dead girl who's haunted you, but you've never seen any other dead people, just those three. You wonder if you're crazy, if it's your way of dealing with your emotions (with Lilly it was denial, with Meg it was guilt, with Veronica it's loss too painful for words) or if you're just meant to be haunted by blonde women who you loved and who died violent tragic deaths.
You don't know, all you know is that after years of seeing dead girls, you've gotten used to it.
So, you talk to Veronica when she appears in front of you in the middle of the afternoon and pretend that it's normal for your dead wife to be standing there, speaking to you. Besides, you don't really care about normal, because for a few minutes you can pretend that she's not really dead.
But, the truth is, she is and after all these years, you're still talking to dead blonde girls.
You just don't fight it the way you used to.
