Words Of Steele

Disclaimer: I do not own Laura Holt or Remington Steele.
Note: This takes place right after the finally episode. Isn't it funny that after five years together they never once said I love you? I mean, yeah they said it with their actions and sometimes even in the things that they said but they never really said it. This is just another out take on how it could have happened.
This is my second attempt at doing this so when I get hundreds of flames for this, be kind.

Words of Steele
The Irish Castle was eerily silent as Laura Holt Steele slowly ascended the staircase. She knew Mr. Steele would be waiting for her to come to bed but she couldn't shake the nervous feeling that crept over her at the prospect of finally making love to her husband. After four years of partnership with the man she had come to know as Remington Steele she still couldn't get over the fact that he could leave her. Remington had done all he could do to assure her that his intentions were good and that he wasn't going anywhere.
As she reached the door to their room, Remington was coming out to look for his wife.
"Laura, what's wrong?" Concern written all over his face.
"Nothing, nothings wrong" She lied.
Remington knew there was something wrong, Laura wasn't looking him in the eye and that only meant one thing…
"You still think I am going to leave you, don't you?" He quietly asked her, a little hurt that she didn't trust him after all this time.
"You have to know how happy I am that we are taking that big step forward in our relationship but I am unsure about what happens after the two years are up." She confessed.
"I will be here, like I have been for the past four years." He replied honestly. "How could I leave the woman I fell in love with?" He asked, pulling her into his arms and holding her close.
Laura's heart started to beat a little faster at this newest revelation. Could he possibly love her as much as she loved him? He tilted her head up so he could place light kisses over her face.
"I love you so much Laura."
Yep, that answered her question. Now only if she could get enough courage to return those words. But it was still so hard to open up to him, to let him see her vulnerability and her heart. She pulled back just enough to look into his gorgeous blue eyes. Seeing the love that he had for her in his eye she found her strength.
"I love you too Mr. Steele." A small smile graced her face as she let those words pass her lips. And suddenly a great burden was lifted from her, for she had finally told the man she loved just how much he meant to her.
Early morning sunlight illuminated the bed where a couple lays tangled in each other's arms.
Laura Steele stretched out her tired body, still not wanting to let go of the wonderful dream she was having. Finally opening her eyes she realized that the dream was actually reality and that she really had spent the night in the arms of Remington Steele. Her movements woke him up and he smiled at her.
"Morning Love" he greeted her.
"Morning Mr. Steele" she said, giving him a mischievous grin, leaning in to kiss him.
He deepened the kiss, and was about to lay her back down when they heard a knocking at the door.
"Breakfast is ready you too!" called an overly cheerful Mildred.
"That woman has the most bad timing of anyone I have ever met." He grumbled.
Laura chuckled and pulled him out of bed.
"Come on. Lets go before she decides to bust down the door."
