AN: Yes, I CAN write more than FMA/Royai stories! No.6 is another love of mine but I'm not too happy with this story, honestly :/. Oh, well! I hope you do, since that's all that really matters to me! I do not own No.6. Enjoy!
Sion though he knew all that there was to know. He was an intelligent boy, an honors student, in fact. While he knew all the false truths that No.6 had made him learn, he never understood life. He never knew how it felt to really be in love. To want to defend someone. He'd never seen real turmoil. He'd never known how to be happy with just the odd simplicities that life had.
Until he met Nezumi. With Nezumi, he finally understood how powerful love can be. He understood that life wasn't as black and white as No.6 would've liked him to believe. He knew that life was a struggle. Nezumi did, something that Sion was quick to learn. To Sion, Nezumi was an example of how we, as humans, go on. There Nezumi was, all of his kind killed in the fire that No.6 themselves caused, and was he able to keep going. To plan to take down the city that caused all the people he cared about to lose their lives. Nezumi taught Sion these things. Thanks to Nezumi, Sion had understanding of life and all its gritty beauty.
Nezumi was jaded. He never cared much for "proper" schooling; it was street smarts that were important. He didn't trust easily, didn't show emotions. What was the point? It seemed that, once you started to trust and care about someone, they went away. Besides, most people didn't deserve to see Nezumi at his most raw. Raw with sadness or happiness or whatever emotion might be brewing inside him at that moment. Everyone was selfish; no one was kind just for the sake of it. No.6 had shown him that.
Until he met Sion. All those years ago, when the boy had taken him in so selflessly, Nezumi knew that he had just seen something rare; a true selfless person. One who, despite the situation, had shown Nezumi, a mere twelve-year-old at the time, true kindness. He never forgot that and, years after that first encounter, had been able to return the favor by saving Sion from the same people who the boy had been taught to trust. At first, Nezumi hated how naïve Sion was. Never taught about books or sex or fighting, as Nezumi had told him.
'Three basics in life', Nezumi thought with a scowl.
Nezumi saw later, though, that what Sion lacked in this sense, he made up for in kindness. He was still so kind, even after all the hell he'd been put through. He'd been ripped from his home, thrown into West District and infected by a parasitic bee. Yet, he still smiled. Sion could keep going and dreaming. That was something that Nezumi had once thought impossible. Sion taught Nezumi these things. Thanks to Sion, Nezumi had understanding of kindness and how hope is more than a four letter word.
Two teachers of life and kindness. One harsh yet realistic, the other hopeful yet naïve. Together, these two entities make a whole. Together, Sion and Nezumi have full understanding of the world and all its harsh kindness.
