When All is Said and Done

The dark void inside his soul was finally too much to handle. He couldn't fight the Darkness anymore. It was finally time to give up. He'd lived through so much. He'd survived more than he should have. He'd experienced great joy and horrible loss. Now was the final end. Everyone had to go sometime, and this was his time. As much as it pained him to leave his lovely wife and son, it was time for Luke Skywalker to become one with the Force. It was time for the great Jedi Master, to die.

Mara Jade Skywalker shot straight up in the medical wing bed. Something was awfully wrong. Luke's presence was gone. Catching her breath, she searched for him, but he was no was no where to be found. He was completely gone from her. Tears rolled down her face as she realized the full extent of what this ment. Her husband was dead.

To the side of her, the new born baby boy began to cry. He had felt it too. She knew it in her heart. She leaned over and picked him up into her arms and cradled him against her breast. The boy continued to wail out of control. Mara found herself doing the same.

"Oh, Luke!" she cried. "Oh, why did you take him from me?"

~~~~~~~On Coruscant~~~~~~~
"Luke!" Leia screamed.
"Leia, are you alright?" Han jolted up, startled by his wife's sudden scream.
The Princess of Alderaan didn't respond. She cried, just cried until Han had no choice but to wrap her in his arms. Once he did, she snuggled her head into his chest and cried continuously. Finally she looked up, her chocolate eyes, blood shot.
"What is it sweetheart, what about Luke?" he coxed.
"He's...Luke's...Luke's dead!" she sobbed.
Han's mouth dropped and he too felt the wetness on his cheeks. Not another one! All her could think was the simple thought: Not another one...
~~~~~1 week later on Yavin IV~~~~~~

..."he was a great man that will never be forgotten. May the Force be with you Luke Skywalker, now and forever!" Kam finished his speech and looked out at the attendants of the memorial service.

Mara held little Cavalli Jade close to her. She hadn't had dry eyes since before he died. Leia held her children Jacen, Jaina and Anakin close, none of them could control their tears. He looked about to all the faces and no one was left unmoved. He, himself, had begun to cry. It was a sad time for the New Republic indeed.

Mara lay Cavalli Jade down for his nap and cried softly. He looked so much like his father. He was hardly a week old, and she could already see Luke. As the small boy looked up at her, a smile on his face, his icy blue eyes sparkled. Just like his father's.

"Cavalli Jade Skywalker," she cried. "You will be a great Jedi, just like your great father."

With that, Mara bent over and kissed him on the forehead. As she left the room, she flicked the light off. As she closed the door she caught a glimpse of something down the hall. She turned and saw Luke.

"I love you, Mara!" he said.

"I Love you too Luke Skywalker," she said.

And Luke was gone.

The End
