Skye overhears the team making a bet about someone's personal life. She tries to understand what is going on. Short story

* I don't own agents of Shield or the characters. This is just something that popped into my head during a lecture. Hope you like it. *

"I bet they get together within the month." Skye heard Fitz's voice as she returned to her room to change after training with her SO. Wondering whom he was talking about she moved to one side to listen without being seen.

"No." Came Simmons' voice, which wasn't surprising. Those two were always together. "With all that UST it will be two weeks."

"Yes but your forgetting who were are talking about Simmons," reasoned Coulson. "It will be more like two months."

"You are all wrong. It will be at least a month and a half before they do anything. Two months is too long as no one could ignore the UST for that long. Not even him!" Came May's voice surprising Skye. May rarely got involved in anything personal, preferring not to know what was happening in others personal lives. From what Skye had over heard they were clearly talking about someone, but who was it?

"How about we make a bet then?" Coulson's voice broke through Skye's thoughts. "Everyone pays $20 to the person who guessed the correct time when they get together." After a slight pause he continued. "Good. Now no cheating and no telling them about this."

With that Skye heard them all begin to move away she slowly moved from her hiding position. Now what was all that about she thought?

A few days later.

Skye was totally confused every time she turned around the team was encouraging her to spend time with Ward. Not that she was complaining, her SO was hot. But still it was a bit strange.

Following him up the stairs after training she once again came across the team again.

"You have been cheating Simmons." Fitz exclaimed. At a clear sound of protest from her he continued. "Yeah because you would normally encourage Skye and Ward to spend so much time together. You're trying to win the bet."

A sudden understanding came to Skye as the conversation she had overheard and the strange behaviour of the team suddenly made sense. Noticing her SO join the rest of the team having clearly overheard the same conversation as her, she entered the room.

"Skye. Ward." Coulson greeted them sounding slightly guilty.

Smiling slightly she walked straight over to her SO. Sanding on her tiptoes, he was so tall; she planted a kiss on his lips. Turning around she glanced at the shocked team.

"Seriously guys. This was what you were doing, encouraging us to spend time together. Just so you could win a bet." The team glanced at each other guiltily as she continued. "Unfortunately none of you are going to win that bet. We are already together and have been for three months. Seriously for spies you aren't very observant."

With that Skye spun round heading towards her bunk, grabbing Ward's hand as she went, enjoying the look of shock on the rest of the team's faces.
