So, this is it. How disappointing, really. Shadows from my own talisman of power pinned me to the wall as a single, precise shard of dark magic flew to smite whatever was left of my heart. All the plans had run out, but my only purpose was long gone anyways.

I am not a coward. The shard would have reflected my dying expression as an unwavering, crazy sneer. My eyes were pools of contempt and arrogance even then.

So I saw him, second per second as he was hurling himself in front of me. The shard of black ice sank into him with a sound akin to an arrow hitting a horse. Then it shattered, its job done. Albeit incorrectly.

The tendrils tying me unwound and I stood on my own accord, stock still. Confusion swirled in my head as his frail figure slumped to the floor. I stood there until I realized that he was still breathing. Then I sat beside what had to be his dying body and rolled him over, still confused. The shard had missed his heart, apparently. There was an obvious wound just under the middle of his left ribcage. He wouldn't last very long and I couldn't do anything about it. Ryou stared rather determinedly up at me, straight into my eyes. He still didn't like me.

"Why?"

He looked annoyed, and tried to glare at me (nearly succeeded too).

I looked back, confusion and a little bit of suspicion playing across my features. He wasn't going to get me to change my ways, not even with this.

"I'm not like you."

This is a Oneshot. Mwahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaa aaaa!

Questions? I'd love to answer them. This is probably a bit confusing to follow…
