A/N: I do not own Harry Potter

A Personal Delivery

Harry was woken up due to large knock on the door that shake the house. BOOM the house shook again. Harry was sure if he knocked again the house might crash down on top of them. Harry heard his Uncle leaving his room complaining about hoodlums interfering with respectful people such as himself. Harry decides to get dressed very quickly in the hopes that it has something to do with the letter he had received for the past two days. Harry left his room sneaking down the stairs and went past Uncle Vernon to where he could see what was happening at the door and stay out of sight - he wasn't sure what his Uncle would do if he was caught spying on him.

When Uncle Vernon opened the door he went into a stupor and Harry saw a giant man whose face was almost completely hidden by by a long shaggy mane of and a wild, tangled beard and all you could see was his eyes glinting like black beetles under all of the hair. The giant man asks "Are you not going to invite me in? I would like a cup 'f tea, if you wouldn't mind." as he walks past Uncle Vernon.

When Harry gets a good look at the stranger he sees a crinkled smile on his face and he sounds quite cheerful making Harry quite curious as to who he is. When the stranger spots Harry he exclaims "An' here's Harry!" Hagrid suddenly gets a nostalgic looks on his face and says "Yeh look a lot alike yer dad, but you've got yer mum's eyes." This stops Harry's thought process as he realises this man knew his parents. He's not sure if that is good or bad yet.

After Hagrid says this Uncle Vernon gets out of his stupor as well as Aunt Petunia comes down stairs after hearing so much racket. Uncle Vernon starts of his threat "You must leave this place at once, you are entering without our permission."

The stranger suddenly has very intimidating look on his face as he stares at both Harry's Aunt and Uncle. He says "You will leave Harry and I alone while we get a cup 'f tea and have a nice a chat." This completely subdues both of them.

When he looks back at Harry again, his face suddenly has a crinkled smile that ruins the effect for Harry but Harry assumes that was the point. The stranger walks up to Harry and before Harry can ask, he introduces himself "Hiya, I am Rubeus Hagrid, Keeper of keys and grounds at Hogwarts. Call me Hagrid, everyone else does." Aunt Petunia's face starts to turn into an unbelievable shade of green.

Harry is still confused about what is happening and decides to ask "I'm sorry, but I don't understand. What's Hogwarts?"

Hagrid seems to go into a shock and whispers in disbelief and says "What's Hogwarts?"

Harry thinking he'd done something wrong says "Sorry."

Hagrid barked "Sorry?" He turns around to face the Dursley's who fainted. Hagrid turns back to Harry he asks "How about we go to kitchen and get us eh cup 'o tea." Harry agreed immediately to find out more about Hogwarts and his letter.

Hagrid and Harry go through to the kitchen leaving behind the Dursleys. Harry turns on the kettle and takes two cups before Hagrid hands Harry his letter and starts talking "Here yeh are Harry. Read this first" Harry takes takes the letter immediately opening it and starts reading his letter:

HOGWARTS SCHOOL OF WITCHCRAFT AND WIZARDRY

Headmaster: Albus Dumbledore

(Order of Merlin, First Class, Grand Sorc., Chf. Warlock, Supreme

Mugwump, International Confed. of Wizards)

Dear Mr Potter

Yours sincerely,

Minerva Mcgonagall

Deputy Headmistress

The first thing Harry says is "I don't understand." Still feeling confused and asks "What does it mean by witchcraft and wizardry?"

Hagrid still seems to be in shock as he asks "Do yeh even know about our world?"

Harry asks "Our world?"

Hagrid seems to be extremely angry again and shouts "Do you mean ter tell me, that yeh don't know about anythin'."

Harry feels insulted by this "Hey I know stuff. I'm good at math and stuff."

Hagrid states "I mean about our world. Yeh must at least know about yer parents. I mean they're famous, you're famous!"

Harry is extremely surprised by this and replies "What? My parents weren't famous, were they?"

Hagrid seems to get even angrier by this reply and calms himself down before looking into Harry's eyes and says "Yeh don't know what yeh are?" Harry once again shakes his thinking he is going to get his answer "Harry - yer a wizard."

There is only silence for a while as Harry tries to process the truth of the situation "I'm a what?"

"A wizard 'f course. I bet a good one, once you start training a bit." States with conviction. Hagrid then starts saying "I gotta deal with the muggles after this."

"Muggles?" Harry asks

Hagrid gives him a smile and says "What we call non-magic folk like the Dursleys."

Harry nods his and then starts to he eagerly read the letter again and his head explodes with question. He starts with the one from the letter and asks "Where do I send a letter?"

"Gallopin' Gorgons, that reminds me," Hagrid started rifling through his taking out several items that shouldn't have fit in there. He finally seems to find what he was looking for when he says "There yeh are." Out comes a rather ruffled owl, parchment and a quill. He starts writing a note which was more scrawled but Harry could read upside down:

Dear Professor McGonagall

Given Harry his letter. We will need to send him with other muggle-borns for when they go to Diagon Alley. I am currently giving him the information. Hope you're well.

Hagrid

Hagrid rolled up the letter, gave it to the owl, opened the window and the owl was off immediately apparently knowing where to go. Harry was really confused and asked "Do you have to use an Owl everytime you send a letter?"

Hagrid just starts laughing and says "I forget how new you are to everything, no Harry Owls are the fastest way to send a letter when someone isn't connected to the MMS or otherwise known as the Magical Mail System. You just buy a Wizarding Mail box, connect it to the british and international mail system and you can get letters from anyone who has one of these. The only reason you use an owl is if you don't have one like you or are travelling and didn't bring your box along." Harry was amazed to hear this as it sounded much faster (Even the owl) than the muggle post service and just as good or even better than email (apart from the owl) as you can't access email from anywhere and not a lot of people have a PC to access their email.

When Harry got over it he goes back to thinking about questions he had earlier "What did you mean by being famous."

Hagrid looks grief stricken when asked this and says "I can't believe yeh don't know," under his breath. He looks to be building up his courage and says "Do yeh know how they died?"

Harry quietly confesses to Hagrid that his Aunt and Uncle told him "They told me they died in a car crash."

What Harry and Hagrid didn't know was that the Dursley's had built up their courage and were about to barge into the kitchen but when they heard "CAR CRASH!" When the Dursleys left Hagrid managed to calm down but he wouldn't have if he had known that they were so close that he could kill them, which he was very tempted to do. While he managed to calm himself down it was not by much and continued saying "How could a car crash kill Lily an' James Potter? It's an outrage! A scandal! You don't even know yer own story when every witch an' wizard grow up hearing it!"

When Harry hears this he goes very white. As soon as he finds his voice he asks eagerly "But why? What happened?"

The anger suddenly faded from what face Harry could see and all of a sudden he was very anxious. He starts talking in a low worried voice "I never expected this, I had no idea, when told me there might be trouble you gettin' yer letter I expected yeh, I itleast knew about our world or we would have sent a Professor instead o' me."

That distracted Harry for a second and before he could stop himself he asked "Why Professor McGonagall?"

Harry looks sheepish after that still curious but not as curious as he is about his parents. Hagrid replies immediately glad to be given more time to think "They have experience with muggle raised witches and wizards and know what to tell them about the magical world." He seems to be calming himself and finally starts talking about what happened "Ah, Harry, I don't know if I'm the right person to tell you this but someone has gotta do it as yeh can't go to Hogwarts without knowing." He was thinking about ways to hitting the fat kid with a spell that would turn him into a pig. "Well it's best yeh know as much as I can tell yeh, mind yeh it isn't everything as parts of it are a great mystery…" He starts staring into space a we bit and starts talking again "It begins with - with a person called -but it's incredible that yeh dinny even know his name, everyone in our world knows -"

Harry gets a bit impatient when Hagrid stops talking and asks "Who?"

Hagrid looks a little taken aback at being asked and says "Well - I don't like sayin' his name. No one does."

Harry is confused by this and asks "Why not?"

Hagrid looks surprised by this again and says "Gulpin' gargoyles, Harry, people are still scared. Blimey, this is difficult. See, there was a wizard who was … bad. As bad as you could go. Worse. Worse than worse. His name was …"

Hagrid gulped as he couldn't get the name out. Harry suggested "Could you write the name down?"

"Nah - can't spell it. All right - Voldemort." Hagrid shuddered as he said his name. Harry was confused why people were so scared of saying his name and resolved to use it without fear. Hagrid continued "Don' make me say it again. Anyway, you-know-who started looking fer followers. Got 'em, too - some were afraid, some just wanted a bit of his power, 'cause he was gettin' himself power, all right. Dark days, Harry. Didn't know who ter trust, didn't dare get friendly with strange witches or wizards … terrible things happened. He was takin' over. 'Course, some stood up to him - an' he killed 'em. Horribly. One o' the only safe places left was Hogwarts itself. Reckon Dumbledore's the only one you-know-who was scared of. Didn't dare try takin' the school, at least just not then anyways."

He takes a breath at this and gears up to say more "Now, yer mum an' dad were as good a witch an' wizard as I ever knew. Head Boy an' Girl at Hogwarts in their day! Among the smartest witch and wizard of their generation. Suppose the mystery is why you-know-who didn't try to get them to their side before … probably too close knew they were too close to Dumbledore to want anything to do with the Dark side. Maybe he thought he could persuade 'em … maybe he just wanted 'em outta the way.

All anyone knows is, he turned up in the village when was all livin', on Hallowe'en ten years ago. You was just a year old. He came ter yer house an' - an'" Hagrid is overcome with grief at this point, pull out a spotted handkerchief and blew his nose on it. He starts talking again "Sorry but it's sad - I knew yer mum an' dad an' never nicer people have I met - anyway you-know-who killed 'em an' then comes the real mystery as he tried to kill you too. Suppose he wanted ter make a clean job about it but he couldn't do it. Never wondered how yeh get yer mark on yer forehead."

At this point Harry touches and is living a memory of green light "Yes that is no ordinary cut. That's what yeh get when an evil curse effects yeh. It took care of yer mum, dad an' even yer house but it couldn't effect you and' that's why yer famous. No one ever lived when he decided to kill 'em and he killed a lot of families - the McKinnons, the Bones, the Prewetts - an' you as a baby lived when no one else could."

Something very painful was going through Harry as that moment as it was bringing up a dream he had repeatedly and was now thinking perhaps it was actually a memory. He was seeing it more clearly before and there was more to it now and he heard a very ominous, very high, a very cold and cruel laugh.

After a moment of thought Harry had a pretty important question to ask "What happened to Voldemort." Hagrid shuddered at the name.

Hagrid starts talking again "Good question, Harry. Vanished the same night as he tried ter kill you. Makes yeh even more famous. That's the big mystery yeh see … he was gettin' more powerful and why'd he go? Some say he died. Most of us reckon he's still out there somewhere but lost his powers and can't come back. There was some'in about you that stumped him that night and he was never seen again."

After hearing this Harry starts doubting himself not sure he could actually be a wizard. He has been tormented by the Dursleys for nothing to have happened to them. Wouldn't have he done something to them but then he remembered all the weird things that happened around him and he couldn't explain any of it. He goes through his memory of the teacher's hair turning blue, appearing on the school roof and his hair appearing out of nowhere. He looked up and smiled at Hagrid giving him a small nod.

Harry starts thinking about a new problem that has just occurred to him and he realises that he needs to address "But Hagrid I don't have any money and they're not going to give me anything."

Hagrid immediately replies "Don't worry about that. Did yeh think yer parents didn't leave yeh anything. Oh that reminds me, here is yer key. This will grant you access to your vault."

Harry is instantly curious "They have a vault?"

Hagrid replies in a patient tone "Of course they do. At Gringotts.' At seeing Harry's confused face he continues 'Wizards bank."

Harry is immediately interested "Wizards have banks?"

Hagrids replies "Just the one, Gringotts. Run by goblins."

Harry almost drops his cup of tea not for the first time today "Goblins?"

Seeing Harry's interest in them Hagrid replies "Yeah - so yeh'd be mad ter try to rob it, I'll tell yeh that. Never mess with goblins, Harry. Gringotts is the safest place in the world fer anything yer want to keep safe. Except maybe Hogwarts. You'll get to go there tomorrow."

Harry is extremely happy that his parents left him somethings. He might see get more things than what is on the list if he has a lot.

After the explanation Hagrid starts to get up and says "Well you're in luck I'll be around tomorrow at 8.45 so you can get to Diagon Alley.' At seeing the question coming 'Where we go shopping." When Hagrid starts to walk away Harry heard him mutter "Now to deal with the muggles."

While Hagrid left to 'Deal with the Dursleys,' Harry was still feeling very anxious. He didn't truly feel like he was actually a wizard and he was worried about how far behind he was compared to everyone else. He knew he was smart as he was good at math and stuff but he had no idea where to start by turning someone into a toad - something he wanted to do to Dudley very much.

When he went to bed that night he still felt wide awake as the Dursleys seemed to be afraid of giving him chores now - not that Harry minds. He starts thinking about the day he had and thinks about the funniest part which was that the Dudley seemed to be scared of him now that the Dursleys have told the truth about him.
