Disclaimer: I don't own X-Men. I'm a college student. I'm lucky I own my computer. Seriously.

This is my Valentine to all of you. Sorry it's a little late.

She sat in the lounge, trying to study. She knew she had to finish her paper for English and start studying for her math test. But there was one problem. Someone was watching her.

The problem was Rogue couldn't tell who it was. Or where they were. But she could feel someone's eyes on her. It didn't help that while she'd been trying to forget the impending holiday, someone had taken the liberty of playing secret admirer. The Southern Goth had been receiving little notes and flowers for over a week now. Each card had a sketch on the front. Sometimes of her. Sometimes of other things. Depended on the intended meaning of the message inside.

Her first guess had been Bobby, but he'd been following Jubilee around like a puppy for the last week. But it had to be someone in the mansion because that's where she'd receive most of them. But she couldn't figure out who it was.

With a soft, frustrated growl, she gathered her books and headed back to her room. Rogue couldn't work in the there anymore. Too quiet. When she finally got to the room she shared with Kitty, she opened the door to find roses on her bed and candles on her dresser.

"Kitty?" No answer. "Hey, Kit?" Still nothing. So she cautiously entered the room, closing the door and placing her books on the floor. Slowly, ready for anything, she entered the room.

Arms slid around her waist from behind and she froze for an instant. Recovering, she stomped hard on her would-be attacker's foot and elbowed him hard in the gut, earning her a low grunt and freedom from the arms that had once encircled her. And as she turned to further injure him, the one thing she hadn't been ready for happened. She recognized the man doubled over.

"Looks like Roguey's got quite a punch, eh cherie?"

"Gambit?!" The Cajun smiled, his ruby eyes flashing at her as she stood straight up and offered her a half bow. "Wha' tha hell are ya doin'?"

He chuckled and took the opportunity to slide his arms around her, bringing her closer to him. "Came t' surprise mon cherie. Tha' a problem?" She could only blink up at him, so surprised and delighted to see him. Gambit grinned and hugged her. "Happy Valentine's."

"But it's tha thirteenth, Swamp Rat. Yer early," came her muffled reply from his chest, arms tight around him.

"Tha' a problem?" he asked again. She shook her head and he dropped a kiss to her hair. "Bon." The stood that way for a few moments until she pulled back and looked up at him, knowing grin on her face."

"Ya know, Ah learned a coupla things since we last saw each otha."

The Cajun man looked both confused and interested. "An' wha' did mon cher learn?" he drawled in that voice that made her weak in the knees.

She leaned up. "Ya know. Geometry, some chemistry, a lil' Romantic literature." It was everything Rogue could do to keep from laughing as he looked disappointed. "Oh, an' one more thing," she murmured, leaning closer. "Control." Her lips pressed against his and she kept her eyes open to watch his reaction. When he realized she wasn't stealing his energy and powers, his arms tightened around her as he smirked against her lips. Maybe she wasn't completely opposed to Valentine's Day.
