A lone figure stood by the window just staring out, listening to their neighbors' many cheers. It was a time to look back and remember the year that has gone by. Turning back, he looked at the sleeping form on the right side of the bed before looking away again. He didn't know why but it became a habit for him to wake up before midnight and start counting. It was only then that he would truly count on his biggest and most important memories.

One month from now, they'll be complete and their nights will be filled with nothing but cries and feeding but happy nonetheless.

Hearing the gleeful shouts of "Happy New Year!" Cedric walked back to the bed and quietly slid in beneath the covers. Feeling movement, her dark brown eyes met his calm grey ones as he smiled. Tucking her bushy but curly brown hair behind her ear, he continued to watch her rub her sleepy eyes.

"What's wrong Cedric?" Hermione asked sleepily.

"Happy New Year," he told her before placing a small kiss on her forehead.

"Is that what you woke me up for?" she asked groggily as she tried to shift.

"No I wanted to tell the baby."

"Meanie."

Chuckling slightly, Cedric placed one arm around Hermione while the other one held her hand and placed it on her big belly.

"I love you Hermione."

"Love you too Cedric."
