Rain
A single, fire-orange eye blazed to life in the dark. Had he still had eyelids, he would have blinked. His wings fluttered in curiosity, and he pushed himself up slowly. Didn't want to tear anything...
What was that sound? That strange, pitter-pattering? It sounded like thousands of tiny things prancing on the roof. He had heard this somewhere before...but where? What was it? He needed to find out.
Deceptively thin legs slid off the bed. He carefully rose up, and silently crept towards his door. He made his way just as quietly down the hallway, down the stairs, across the front room, to the door. Just as he was going to leave the house he'd been staying in, a distant booming echoed throughout the sky. His wings vibrated finely to the sound.
A thrill went through him when he opened the door. Outside, there were tiny droplets falling from the sky.
Rain. That is rain. It is raining. The thoughts echoed into his head, much like the booming he'd heard earlier.
He felt a thrill shoot into his body when the drops of water touched his skin. His eyes went dark as he tilted his head towards the moonless, starless sky. A sigh, no, a moan of pleasure left his chewed lips. He hadn't felt something so wonderful since...he couldn't remember. It soothed over the many scars criss-crossing his frail frame.
His wings shivered, and his arms spread as if to embrace the rain.
I myself frigging love whenever it rains. It's so calming and fun (in a strange way) to listen to. It's almost like some rare treat whenever I fall asleep listening to the rain.
This story was posted on DA (there is a link on my profile) but not here. So I decided to fix this.
