Merlin iPod Shuffle Challenge

"1. Pick a character, pairing, or fandom you like.

2. Turn on your music player and put it on random/shuffle.

3. Write a ficlet related to each song that plays. You only have the time frame of the song to finish the drabble; you start when the song starts, and stop when it's over. No lingering afterwards!

4. Do as many as you like of these, and then post them."

A/U: I'm ridiculously lazy, so I've only done two. :)

1) The Times They Are A-Changin' - Bob Dylan

Merlin couldn't understand this new technology; all of these peculiar whizzing, whirring, winding objects with odd, plastic cases and peculiar knobbly buttons. These contraptions would appear identical, unnaturally sleek and polished -a far cry from the old, comfortable splintered wood he'd grown so accustomed to fashioning. The times had changed in such an odd manner, and he was frightened he couldn't accomodate this strange culture to his newfound lifestyle. He'd be forever trapped in the past, forever an old, silly fool.

Perhaps, in such respects, nothing had truly changed.

2) Piece Of My Heart - Janis Joplin

Morgana couldn't understand; she'd done everything, she'd been everything anyone could ever want. She'd led the revolution against the brutal ban of magick, she'd empowered the women of Camelot to take a stand, to rise against the misogynist men clumsily ruling her rightful throne, like little boys fidding with toy swords, battling imaginary dragons and bellowing in high-pitched, giggling glee. She abruptly hunched, with a shuddering, heaving cough echoeing of betrayal, shivering beneath the growing, tingling cold like a frail, quivering old woman. Crimson rivulets blossomed from the fleshy wound inflicted by the cold, hard steel embedded at her back.

She'd been beautiful, she'd been cruel, she'd been fierce, and strong, and wise, and kind...and yet nothing had been enough. She'd never been enough, always the skinny, pale-faced young toddler pattering three steps behind her little brother, desperately wishing for his might with a blade, or his strength with a mace, or his strong, deep, commanding baritone, or the respect he demanded with his proud chin, cocky smile and arrogant gait.

She was never quite enough.
