"You can ride Twilight she's good with beginners. I wish I could ride her more because she's really amazing! But my grandma thinks I've grown past her. Wait she would be your grandma too! That's pretty cool huh?!" At last she took a pause, likely just to catch her breath. For Sophia Quinn getting her thoughts, her thousands of thoughts, was more important than learning the thoughts of others.
"Twilight should be fine. Are you sure I won't break my neck?"
"You'll be fine Callie! After all you are a Quinn! Its in our blood!" She has to dig her nails into the palm of her hand to stop a sarcastic quip. She was not now or ever would be a Quinn.
"We should get out there I promised Jude I'd help him with his upcoming history project." Callie can't help noticing a look of annoyance and lips at a firm line, perhaps even a roll of her eyes.
"It must be nice to have a little brother!"
"Yeah it is. I got two of them and an older one too. Along with a younger sister.' Sophia stops walking, eyebrows frowed. 'Something the matter?"
"But they aren't your actual siblings right?"
"Technically no. I love them just like they are. Adopted siblings are siblings."
"What about me?"
"What about you Sophia?" Callie suspected what.
"Do you love me too? Since I'm your sister?" The suspicion was correct.
"I…think you are pretty nice and I love spending time with you." Sophia's face drops completely.
"But you don't love me?"
"Honestly? No. Nothing to do with you! I've had my heart broken a lot. Its hard for me to trust people."
"Well in time that can change right?!" Callie doesn't have the heart to tell her after this visit and when Robert signed the paperwork they would continue living lives on separate paths.
"Exactly! I'm excited to try horseback ri…"
"Oh you will love it Callie! I promise!"
