"What the hell are you doing in here on a Saturday?" Gerry asked Sandra as he walked into the office.

"I could ask you the same thing." Sandra retorted.

"I left my phone charger here, your turn."

"I wanted this paperwork done that we could start a new case on Monday."
"How's it going?"

"Fine." She told him hoping that it'd mean he'd go away but instead finding him moving round to her side of the desk to see the incomplete sheets of paper.

"Really, because I wouldn't say doing nothing constitutes fine."

"Fine. I can't concentrate."

"Why? What's wrong?"

"It's a long story." She said hoping he'd give up.

"Well how about I help you and you tell me while we work."

"You'd do that? I thought you had plans."

"GJ's match was cancelled as it's too hot."

"Its madness, one minute the ground's frozen, then it's waterlogged then we're in a heat wave."

"Anyway, come out into the big office so we can chat properly." He said as he took half of the pile of paperwork that was on her desk and laid them on his own as she brought the rest and laid them on the table.

Soon all work was forgotten and instead they found themselves sitting on the sofa chatting.

"How come you couldn't concentrate?" Gerry asked as he reproached the subject that she had earlier told him in no uncertain terms never to mention.

"I was on a date last night that your Emily set me up on. He was a proper creep, the kind that in my experience turn out to be rapists, pedophiles or all out psychopaths. I drunkenly agreed to go out with him again tonight."
"Where do you find these weirdo's?!"

"Your daughter set it up!"

"Tell him something's come up. Why don't you date someone normal?"

"Because normal people don't want me, anyway normal's overrated." Sandra said sadly which quickly turned to anger when Gerry scoffed. "What?"

"You speak a load of rubbish Sandra. I mean you could have any man you wanted." He saw her scowl at him, "Or woman."

"It's men. Anyway the man I want doesn't want me."

"Then he's a nutter."

"He really is, he's the most annoying man I know."
"Wow, I thought that was me." She flashed him an 'in your dreams' look but what she really meant with that look was 'if only you knew'. "Has he told you he doesn't want you?" Gerry asked.

"Well do but it's just the way he acts."

"Maybe you're reading the situation wrong."

"I doubt it."

"Can I kiss you?"

"Do I have a choice?" Sandra answered to the 'Why don't you tell me about it?' question that she thought was coming but didn't. She hadn't had time to process his actual question.

"Nope." He said as he leaned forward and kissed her softly, "Now do you think that that man doesn't want you?"

"No." Sandra answered confirming Gerry's suspicions, before pulling him back towards to kiss him again.
