Tifa sighed as she glanced towards him. Hidden partially in darkness the only part of him she could see was his head leaning on his hand as he stared out of the window. Placing the washcloth down, she made her way towards the table and picked up the glasses that littered the surface.

"You okay?" she asked gently.

He jumped at the sound of her voice and looked up at her. "Yeah."

She raised an eyebrow and placed the glasses back down, sliding into the seat opposite him. She took in his sad tired eyes and shifted slightly.

"You don't look alright," she commented. He continued to stare at the table in silence. "You know that you can talk to me about anything right?" she whispered. He nodded slowly but still didn't speak. She made a soft sound of slight agitation before she picked the glasses up again and walked back to the bar. But she watched him as she rinsed the items under the water she knew she couldn't stay mad at him for what he was feeling. It wasn't his fault that he had fallen for Aeris but she just wished that he would get through his sadness and see that there was someone right there in front of him. She was willing to give him everything if he would just look.

But he never would. He disappeared every morning and came back late at night and she knew why. He was searching for her, just as he promised he would. But every time he came home with no closer clues as to how to find his love. And Tifa had to watch as his unhappiness became more and more apparent in his bright blue eyes.

And then he would sit silently in the corner like he was now, thinking of the flower girl all over again, planning out a new way to reach her the next day. Tifa could only stand back and watch. No matter how much she wanted to, she would never be the girl that Cloud wanted.

There was a hole in his heart that she just couldn't fill.
