Coraline Jones and her parents were gardening again in their front yard of the Pink Palace apartment in Ashland,Oregon. Out of nowhere, a car and a moving truck came. "Cool, our new neighbors are here," Coraline commented. The new residents stepped out of their vehicle. They consist of a boy Coraline's age and height plus his parents and his older sister. They simply unloaded their furniture and other things from the moving truck. Several hours later, they were done unloading. The boy decided to take a rest on the porch just before he started unpacking his belongings. Coraline decided to talk to him. "Hi, I'm Coraline; Coraline Jones," she greeted. "I'm Norman; Norman Babcock," the boy greeted back. "So, where are you from?" Coraline asked. "I'm from Blithe Hollow,Massachusetts. What about you?" Norman answered. "I'm from Pontiac,Michigan," Coraline responded. "You're kind of cute by the way," she continued. "You're kind of cute yourself," Norman replied. "By the way, that's a beautiful garden you and your parents made here," he continued. "Yeah my parents are article writers actually. They write about gardening," Coraline complimented. "Say, are you doing anything later tomorrow after school?" She questioned. "I'm going to eat at a diner I found around here on Yelp. It's called Brooks Diner," Norman answered. "Can I come?" Coraline claimed. "Sure you can," Norman claimed back. "Would you like to come hang out at my apartment room? I have some games and toys we can play as well as some snacks we can eat," Coraline convinced. "No thanks. I have to start unpacking my stuff and eat dinner with my family," Norman kindly rejected. "Oh yeah that's right. You just moved in," Coraline realized. Norman headed inside his new home and started unpacking and ate dinner with his family. The next day, Norman's parents were enrolling Norman to his new school with Coraline. He was introduced to his first class. He then sat next to a boy he surely doesn't know. "FYI, I'm not gay," the boy informed. As a result, Norman just left and took another seat perfectly next to Coraline. The two ate lunch together. They only ate a little bit since they were already going to eat at that diner after school. School got out when Coraline and Norman headed straight to Brooks Diner. "So why did you and your family move here?" Coraline asked after sipping her strawberry mango milkshake. "I had a fiasco speaking to the dead at my hometown," Norman answered eating his french fries. "You actually can speak to the dead?" Coraline was surprised. "Yes and I can also see invisible ghosts," Norman admitted. "How can you?" Coraline was curious after she burped. "There was a birth defect in my eyes when I was born. The doctors found neon carbon gases particularly in my optic nerves. They couldn't surgically removed them otherwise my whole head would be damaged," Norman narrated. "Interesting," Coraline complimented. "Why did you move here from your hometown?" Norman questioned after sipping his chocolate milkshake. "My parents got themselves jobs as writers for a publishing company called Mulch," Coraline responded. "I never wanted to move though therefore I have close friends in my hometown and in other states," she continued. "How many times have you moved?" Norman asked. "I moved about twelve times from one state to another," Coraline answered. Several hours later, she and Norman were done eating so they decided to take a walk in the park. When they arrived home, Coraline letted Norman spend the night at her apartment room. They watched movies on TV. When the two were sleeping, a metal clank sound appeared on the floor next to Coraline's bed. It woke her up. She looked to the side where the sound came from and it was the key to the little door in the den. "She's at it again," Coraline whispered. "I better solve this problem before Norman gets victimized," she continued. "Norman, I need your help," Coraline begged. "What for?" Norman asked. "Remember the evil woman I was talking about while we were walking in the park?" Coraline refreshed. "Oh the Beldam?" Norman realized. "Yeah her," she responded. Norman got out of the couch and quickly changed his clothes while Coraline quickly changed her own clothes. The two then headed straight through the little door just after unlocking it. By the time they reached the other world, there stood the Beldam. "So I see you brought a friend here," the Beldam explained. "I did but you're not taking him," Coraline said firmly. "Then I'm just gonna have to sew the buttons in your eyes," the Beldam rewarded. She began picking up the pair of buttons with a needle and roll of thread. "No!" Norman yelled as he rapidly drew his ray gun and opened fire. The Beldam fell on the floor. "Why you little"- Blam! Norman shot her again. He then drew a knife from his waist and cut her head off so that she won't come back alive ever again. "Wow, Norman. You actually saved me," Coraline admitted. She kissed him for the first time and whispered "I love you" when the moon appeared away from the button shadow. All of a sudden, the Beldam spoke what appeared to be her last words. She was the original mother of Agatha Prendergaust. The story goes that she disowned Agatha when she was convicted of doing witchcraft so she was hung to death. The beldam then killed herself and magically came back alive as a life-sized doll and started kidnapping children just to keep her company. For that reason, Coraline and Norman decided to hold a funeral for her.
