Abed awoke. He glanced at the five dollar alarm clock he and Troy picked out from target. They though it complimented the blanket fort beautifully, it does. '2:15am'. "This is odd." Abed thought to himself, He normally didn't wake up halfway through his Inspector Spacetime themed dreams, "Another cliffhanger."
The moonlight shining onto the plaid wall of the blanket fort caught his eye. The air was still, much like in a cheaply made horror movie. But, Abed didn't think Freddie Krueger's hands were the claw like shadows cutting through the moonlight. He was pretty sure those were just tree branches outside the apartment window.
A worrisome moan shattered the silence of the night. The sound came from Troy. He was sleeping on the bottom bunk, Abed loved the top. Abed adjusted himself in his bed and peered over the edge of the top bunk. There was Troy, obviously in the middle of yet another nightmare. He noticed how Troy's fingers twitched every so often. "This might be the zombie dream again" He thought.
Troy, on few occasions, had dreams where they all turned into zombies on Halloween. He never fully went into detail and always seemed skittish around the part where he witnesses Abed get attacked, and become, a zombie. Abed always wondered what exactly happened at that part.
The bunk began to rock, Troy was tossing and turning and become a bit more vocal. He squirmed enough to make his pillow fall off. Abed took off his covers to go retrieve the pillow and aid his friend. "Abed…"
He froze and tilted his head. Troy had never really been that vocal during his sleep. Except for the time he dreamt he was on The Reading Rainbow. That was only one time though.
"Abed… I love you."
Abed's brain went wild. This normally didn't happen to him, it was such a strange feeling. He could feel his cheeks burning up, strange. His mouth felt dry and he couldn't help but swallow. "What has come over me?" He was thrilled but usually when a character on a sitcom found out another was in love with them things start to unravel. He had to make sure he stayed calm, cool, and collected. Shouldn't be too hard right?
At that moment he was the sincerity in Troy's face. He always had trouble understanding people and their emotions, except for Troy. He was Troy, Abed knew Troy, like T.V. Another moan from Troy fractured his thought process. It sounded painful this time, like he was being bitten or something. He had to stop it.
He scooted forward, almost hanging from the top bunk, and slowly got hold of Troy's hand. He began to rub Troy's hand with his, slowly tracing a light circle with his thumb onto Troy's surprisingly soft knuckle. It felt right.
Troy violently jerked awake, he instantly grabbed Abed's hand. "Abed" he choked out while gasping for air, and reality. His heart was still racing from the zombie nightmare.
"It's okay Troy, I'm here." He said looking into his eyes as they locked together. Abed felt connected to Troy, now more than ever.
"Abed… I-"
"I know."
