What if Haymitch was in the Quarter Quell? What if Peeta was the mentor?

Katniss thought about this for some time, she just couldn't escape the thought, and she thought how Effie would have felt if Haymitch was in the Quarter Quell instead of Peeta.

She was walking through the train getting some warm milk to help her sleep, she knew she could get an Avox do get it but she just didn't want to see them. That's when she heard voices in the main train cart and stopped everything.
"Effie, I know this is hard for you, but I'll be alright." A voice whispered.
"But Haymitch, what will I do?" A delicate voice answered.
"I don't know, but I'll figure it out."
She moved closer to the glass window in the door and hoped she wouldn't be caught eavesdropping. To her surprise she saw Effie and Haymitch in a warm and gentle embrace.
They pulled away from each other just a little so Effie could look up at Haymitch with loving eyes "Stay alive..." Effie whispered just barely loud enough for her to hear, "For me."
"Of course, love." Haymitch said in the most loving voice she had ever heard come out of his mouth.
He leaned down and locked Effie's lips with his own. Effie's arms went up around Haymitch's neck to deepen the kiss.
After some time they pulled apart, panting for their lost breath, "Haymitch, I love you..." Effie whispered between pants.
Haymitch looked surprised but eventually his face twisted into a smile, "I love you too, Effie." He wrapped his arms around Effie's waist to bring them closer if possible and brought her lips to his once again.
She thought they looked so perfect, so in love, kissing in the middle of the train cart-
...
That's when the alarm clock went off and startled her awake. She bolted up right in her bed shaking Peeta awake in the process.
"Katniss," he said, his voice worried, "are you alright?"
Katniss turned and nodded to reassure him, "Yeah, I'm okay Peeta... I just had the weirdest dream."
