"Always." She smiled at me with the look I will always miss.
"Always." I agreed, not knowing what would lie ahead.
She overwhelmed me with a smothering hug, hair flying in the wind. "Promise?" A statement she should never had said.
"Since when have I broken a promise?" I laughed, spinning her in a circle. What a liar I was.
She let go of me, grasping my hand tightly. "Good. I wouldn't want you running off on me!" She pressed herself against my side like a magnet, with a smile that could light up our entire planet. The root of my guilt.
"I would never do that, you know that. I love you." I squeezed her hand. "Forever and always."
"Forever and always!" She exclaimed, pulling my hand up into the air in a proclaiming gesture.
I let a small sob escape my lips, memories pounding in my brain. I stared down at her corpse, chest no longer moving. This was entirely my fault. I was weak minded, I let myself fall victim to revenge, the victim of another.
"I'm so, so sorry.." I said, voice wavering with my vision. "I was such a liar.. Just, come back!" I screamed, one word repeating in my brain.
Arrivederci.
