***Once again the character whose point of view this is from [Alice] is based on a real person. Enjoy. Reviews are appreciated.***
I saw him sitting there looking down at the computer screen. I was watching him from the empty hall. He was so beautiful. I wanted him for my own. I was willing to do anything for his love.
'Alice'
That's me. He waved me into the lab with his ever so perfect hand in a graceful motion. I walked in and tried to stop staring. I don't think I was very successful. I hope he didn't notice.
'I'm going on break in five. You wanna get something to eat with me?'
I was excited but I didn't want to seem desperate so I pretended to think about it before stuttering my answer.
'Umm… Yeah, sure, why not? See you out front?'
'Sounds good. See you there.'
I walked off, my back to him and a satisfied smile on my face. I was imagining our wedding. I made my way to the locker room where I removed my C.S.I vest and retrieved my stuff, which included the keys to my shiny, silver Volvo.
We met up outside, like we said we would. I drove the two of us a few blocks to the diner we usually ate at.
We ordered our food, ate and made small talk. I was done before him. My hands were resting on the table. I closed my eyes for a second to avoid any awkward eye contact. When I reopened them, I saw and felt a soothing hand on each of my hands. I looked up from the hands and saw him looking into my eyes, I looked back at his. So much for avoiding eye contact. We sat in complete silence looking, watching our own reflection in each others eyes. The emptiness of the diner added to the silence. It was broken with the bill.
'I'll get it.'
He offered, drawing back his hands. We shifted our eyes away as well.
'Thanks.'
'My pleasure.'
He said with a wink. I shot a smile his way. Greg placed the money with the bill and placed a tip on the table.
We were just getting up when a man in his mid twenties burst through the door with a gun pulled out. It was a nice black 9mm.
'Everyone get down or get shot!'
Greg brought me to the ground, protecting me with him. While he was attempting to take the money from the register, I tried to grab my gun. He noticed and without hesitation he turned quickly and shot a bullet my way. I closed my eyes tightly, clenched my teeth and braced myself. I heard another shot. I had to see what or who he hit, it wasn't me. I hadn't felt either bullet make contact with my body. I relaxed myself and opened my eyes to see the robber on the floor with a gunshot to the head, Nick standing in the doorway with his gun pulled out. I looked to my side and a tear rolled down my cheek at the sight of the pretty blonde bleeding out on the floor. He took a bullet for me.
Still in shock but realizing I was in more and wouldn't do anything, Nick rushed over to Gregs body, applying pressure to the wound while yelling out to call 911.
I quickly snapped out of it, noticing his pain. Pain that he is enduring so I wouldn't have to. I knelt by his side, holding his hand. Squeezing it tight. He spoke lowly.
'A-lice… I-I lo… I love y-…you.'
He suddenly gained a smile.
'I c-couldn't… watch y-you… die and kno-knowing… I could ha-have sa-saved you… A-Alice… I love you.'
That took his last breath. I leaned in and whispered, my mouth by his ear.
'I love you too.'
