A/N: I don't own anything dealing with Harry Potter, and I'm not even gonna say I do!

Ginny drew herself out of the water and sat on the edge of the dock. She pulled a towel around her shoulders and covered her brief bikini. Although she'd felt warm at the beginning of the swim, she was now shivering. The water had been icy cold. She was sure that if Harry had been here, he would have warned her against swimming, despite the warmth of the sun.

But Harry wasn't here. He was in London, at Diagon Alley with Ron and Hermione. Ginny had decided not to go so she could spend some time alone and think about everything that had happened. She had needed the exercise of the swim. The freedom she'd felt in the depths of the icy water had added a lightness to her spirit. She'd kicked and splashed as though dispersing the tensions of the past weeks.

Harry didn't love her. She was sure of that. He'd shown no affection other than a friendly comradeship that would eventually drive her mad. Granted he still suffered from short bursts of pain in his scar, but they had decreased dramatically over the years since Voldemort's demise. He was now able to live an almost normal life. Despite his declaration that they could be together again after Voldemort's death, Harry'd managed to keep himself detached. He would not touch her unless absolutely necessary, and did not encourage her to touch him either. Strangely enough, lately she'd felt an overwhelming desire to smooth his hair or wind her arms around his neck, and even press herself against his body. In the past, such feelings had been alien to her. She hoped that they meant she could enter into a normal relationship soon. If Harry wanted her, that was. She sighed and stretched her limbs to greet the warmth of the sunshine.

The unmistakable sounds of someone apparating made her look toward the house. Harry, alone, came through the garden gate. When he saw her sitting on the dock, he came to join her. If she was grateful for anything, it was that he moved with so much more ease now.

"Hey," he smiled, "been for a swim or trying to get up the nerve?"

"I actually went in," she told him returning the rare smile. She stood up and went to the flat rock where he stood. "How was it?"

"Diagon Alley? It's getting better, new shops are popping up every day."

"That's rather exciting."

Harry touched the damp towel that was wrapped around her thin shoulders.

"Sure you won't catch a cold?" he said.

"I'm strong," she told him. "You don't mind?"

"Of course not, why would I?" His eyes slipped to her ginger hair that was beginning to dry and curl around her face. His piercing gaze lingered on her lips.

She moistened them with the tip of her tongue as she took a step back. She didn't want him to feel awkward at their proximity and her lack of clothes. The towel slipped to the ground as her foot moved. As she bent to pick it up, Harry stopped her.

"Don't," he shook his head. "You're beautiful without it."

Ginny touched the low bikini top with nervous fingers. She wanted to run upstairs to the house and change into more clothing but something was keeping her rooted to the spot.

"I knew you were lovely," Harry said thickly, "but I never expected anything like this."

Ginny gave a little moan just before his mouth covered hers. This was what she'd been wanting this past while. To be held in his arms, against the strength of his lean male body. To feel his mouth devouring her own.

Her hands moved up to clamp around his neck. She ran her fingers through his raven hair as his mouth lowered to the hollow of her throat.

"No," she whispered. But he paid no heed as he unfastened the red bikini top and let it fall between them.

She arched her body to meet the desire in his. There was an ache deep inside her that needed to be filled. She had no doubt that Harry was as aroused as she was herself.

Neither of them heard the sound of two more distinctive pops; nor footsteps on the pathway.

"Good heavens, forgive us," a female's voice said. "We didn't know that you were back together, let alone in such a fashion."

Harry was holding Ginny's trembling body against his chest, shielding her nakedness from view.

He took a deep breath. "Anyone ever tell you that you always arrive at the wrong time, Ron and Hermione?"

"I don't think I need to be told," Ron said turning slightly pink with anger and embarrassment. "I've got perfectly good eyes. Do you mind putting clothes back on Ginny?"

Harry shook his head at his friends' irritation, "Just give us a couple of minutes."

Hermione and Ron had already retreated back a few steps towards the Burrow. Hermione had a firm grip on Ron's arm and was dragging him all the way there. She knew it had only been a matter of time before the other couple had reunited. She just wished her and Ron hadn't had to witness such open affection.

When Ron and Hermione had finally made it into the house, Harry looked down into Ginny's face. He sighed as he looked at her revealed body and her swollen lips.

"At least we didn't have to answer awkward questions," he told her softly. "How do you feel?"

"Slightly confused and a bit shaken," she said. She disentangled herself from his grasp and picked up the bikini top and towel. She wrapped the towel around her sarong style.

"If you don't want that to happen too often, you shouldn't wear that thing." He flipped the red bikini top that she held in her hand.

"I…I wanted it to happen," she told him truthfully.

"At least we've achieved something," he said, "we both still desire each other. Unfortunately," he glanced toward the house, "we have to discuss this with Ron for the next few hours, and knowing Ron, he won't end the conversation all that early."

They walked up to the house. Ron and Hermione were waiting for them in the living room, discreetly gazing from the side window. They turned when they came in.

A/N: This was inspired by the novel "A Race for Love" by Faye Wildman. I don't know whether I will leave this as a one-shot or if I will continue with it as a story or a set of one-shots. Please review and tell me what you think! The feedback will inform me on what to do, so, good or bad, review!!~bbyluv
