John's arms encircle Olivia's waist as she shivers, and she smiles up at him, warming his heart and making him believe that freezing, even in this biting cold, is impossible, because she is with him. The leaves fall all around them as they walk, and she catches one absentmindedly, flicking it in his general direction.
"The change of seasons is symbolic, don't you think?" She asks softly, burrowing her hands in the crook of his arm.
"Sure, it represents the death of all of last years regrets, and the birth of the possibility of new ones, doesn't it?" He says, smirking. But she looks at him seriously, squinting, and he sighs.
"What's on your mind Liv?"
Olivia pulls away from him slightly, and they stop walking. Still though, she cannot take too much distance, so she grasps his hand.
" Last winter John, Elliot was fighting with his wife, Fin was all alone, and you and I...we weren't like this, and neither of us thought we ever would be. And now, Elliot's family is back in one piece, Fin has his son to spend time with, and I'm the happiest I've ever been. I've got you to thank for that."
"And I for you, babe." John says in his typical manner, making her come close to him again with a gentle tug. She hides her face in his jacket as a gust of wind rattles the trees, and murmurs almost fearfully,
"I don't want winter to come again."
They continue, and John's arms resume their natural position around her waist. He rubs her back, and pokes her teasingly, but then with an air of complete seriousness states,
"We never have to fear being cold Liv, so long as we've got each other for warmth."
