This is my first story so I don't know if it's any good. So please review because I want to know what you think if anyone read this. Also my friend edited this and helped with the ending so he gets credit for that. Anyway I hope you like it!
Mark opened the door to the loft and walked inside. It was quiet. The only thing he could hear were his own footsteps as he walked to the couch. The loft seemed so empty without Roger's jacket on the couch or his song notebook on the table. Most of all, it felt empty because there was no Roger sitting by the window with his guitar playing Musetta's Waltz.
Mark hadn't seen Collins since Angel's funeral. He had been too upset to talk or come over. Maureen and Joanne had made up after the funeral and were probably at home together. Mimi had gone to rehab and Mark hadn't seen her since the day Roger left.
Mark knew that one day, all of his friends would be gone, and he'd be all alone, but he didn't know it would be so soon. He hadn't seen any of them in weeks. Roger was right, Mark was all alone with his camera. He had spent the last few weeks looking through film from the past year. There were videos of Angel dancing around the loft on Christmas Eve, of Roger playing his guitar, and of Maureen's protest.
Watching them made Mark feel even more lonely. They made him remember how happy they had all been, which made him realize how much had changed in the last year. Angel had died, Mimi was getting worse, and Roger was in Santa Fe.
Life doesn't always go your way. Career, social life, self-esteem. Mark had had problems with all of these things. He wondered what his life would have been like if he had gone to college, or perhaps taken a job in real estate. He imagined Angel. Where was she now? How did she do it, how was she always so happy and upbeat despite everything she went through? He imagined leaving all his pain behind, floating upward toward the heavens. He was getting closer, he could almost see Angel behind those golden gates! And then it all vanished. He was still Mark, stuck in Roger's abandoned room, forever empty.
Sorry I accidentally deleted this and my other story but I'm putting them back up now.
