Forever
by Cyberchao X

A/N: So the last time I read through Blogger Beware, we ended up with a plot bunny that I knew full well was doomed to never be finished simply because a Goosebumps-style story is just so far out of my wheelhouse. I'm still happy with the idea, simply because I was absolutely appalled at how many of the stories on this site have protagonist/villain pairings such as Amy/Slappy played completely straight, but it's probably not going to be finished. But when there's actual romantic tension (a rarity in the series, admittedly)? That's fair game. Troy's retrospective called this one of the best books in the series, and I'm inclined to agree, so I'd like to give it a spot in the fanfiction archives.

Disclaimer: Characters by R. L. Stine or possibly one of his ghostwriters. Also, no direct quotes this time, because I mostly borrowed my Goosebumps books from the library rather than owning them and don't have access to the source material.

"I need your help. I can't escape this camp without a live human body. I promise I'll give you your body back once we get off the camp grounds. Please, Harry…" At first I hadn't even believed Lucy when she claimed to be a ghost, even after seeing her put her hand in the fire without seeming to be hurt. But it was true, and I was torn. I couldn't deny that there had been chemistry between us, and yet…it no longer felt real. Had there really been something there, or was she just using me? I voiced my doubts about allowing this, and she acted genuinely hurt. "I felt like we really had something…please, Harry, we could be together forever."

"Lucy? 'We could be together forever' is not something that a living person wants to hear from a ghost. And I'm going to age, while you'll remain a pre-teen forever."

Lucy thought about this. "I guess you're right…I'm sorry. I guess I'll just forget about it then…" And then she tried to take me by force. I tried to fight her off, but how can you fight a ghost? I tried to scream, but I couldn't. "Please, just calm down…I promise, I'll leave your body as soon as we're safely away from Camp Spirit Moon. …Though I won't be happy about it."

"Lucy?"

"It's what you want, right? Besides, as much as I like you, sharing a body with you would just be weird. For both of us, really. You're a boy; I'm a girl…"

"…You promise?"

"Yeah. Of course."

It'd been four years since I left Camp Spirit Moon with Lucy inside of me. And now, I was the one getting inside of a girl…if you know what I mean. Only things took a turn for the weird afterwards. "Took you long enough," a familiar voice said, emanating from my girlfriend's body. Not the voice she normally had.

"…Lucy?"

"I told you we'd be together forever. Go ahead, find another girl. It doesn't matter who you become intimate with; I'll possess her, too."

"Have you been stalking me all this time?" She nodded, or rather made my girlfriend nod. "That is seriously messed up."

"But I love you. I thought you loved me too. See, I'm not even messing with your right to a full life. That's what you wanted, right?"

"…You could've at least let me know that you were planning this. I've moved on…moved past our summer romance. Not that I didn't enjoy it, but…you just came back into my life so suddenly."

"You'll get used to it eventually."

"I don't have much of a choice, do I?"

"Nope."

CCX: In case you'd forgotten which of the many camp-related Goosebumps books these two were from, it's #45, Ghost Camp. And, yes, there was actually romantic tension in that book, which is actually to be expected given that the protagonists of Goosebumps books are usually 12 years old, which is about the time that kids start wanting to date. Until next time, this is CCX, signing off.
