Chronicles of Clyde

My name is Clyde. I am a young wolf living in the Sunset Forest of Minecraft seed 1337. I have been living on my own since my beloved partner left me for an older and stronger mate. If she likes that other wolf more, then so be it. I want her to be happy, and if being happy means being with someone else, then I'm perfectly fine with that. It's been another normal day hunting sheep in my small patch of forest. My neighbors don't really notice me, being a lone wolf and all. Maybe something will change tomorrow… I could find a new mate, a friend or anything really…

The sun didn't rise today. Or at least I couldn't see it because of the rainclouds. I'm stuck here in a small cave with nothing to do but wait. This place is bittersweet because this is where I met the lovely wolf Sophie. I pace around, even sleep for a while but the rain continues to fall. A crack of thunder scares a chicken into the cave. It runs back out into the storm as soon as it sees me. Oh well, I wasn't really hungry anyway. When the clouds finally clear, it is sunset. A whole day in a cave is very dull. Might as well sleep through the night here too…

A distant pack called the Shadowrunners report strange creatures on their territory. They stand on two legs and are mostly black. They have odd yellow wings on their head and a blue crystal on their chest too. They also are strong enough to beat zombies, skeletons and creepers into a pulp. Whoever this is, I hope they're friendly…

The creature has spotted me. They seem very scary, until they hold out a skeleton's bone and toss it at me. It's very tasty, obviously freshly-slain. The creature gives me more, and they put a red thing around my neck. I don't mind, since I'm too busy gnawing away at a bone. They stretch out a paw and scratch that one spot I can never reach that always itches. I like this creature. I don't know who they are and why they picked me out of all the wolves in the forest, but that doesn't bother me now. I've found a friend at last.

I followed the creature for a whole day now. They led me to their cave I suppose, and it's very big. The walls are decorated with all sorts of scenes of Minecraftia and the floors are colourful and soft. It feels like walking on sheep. The creature showed me to a room with a nice pool of water, soft floors and walls coloured green and blue, some invisible material giving a clear view of the outdoors and a nice stack of pork chops. They then began to speak.

"Welcome to your new home, my good friend. I hope everything is nice enough for you to enjoy."

It seems like I can understand them, but they cannot understand me. Oh well, this is a much nicer cave than anything in the wild. They tell me to have a good night's rest and get used to my new surroundings. I can certainly do that!

The creature seems to be completely alone in the world. They've taken me all over the place to many different caves of theirs and not a single place held anything like the creature. Only hostile zombies and skeletons begin to resemble my new friend. I can see why they'd want a wolf around now, but it still puzzles me why they'd take me, a small wolf that's not even fully grown when they could have an entire pack of wolves. They certainly have enough bones to tame even the wariest of wolves. Maybe I was never meant to know…

I've been with the creature for a full Minecraft year now, and we've built a strong bond. The creature provides everything I could ever need, and I help them in combat and provide companionship. It's a nice deal for the two of us. I don't mind being their only wolf; in fact it makes me feel special. My luck has finally changed for the best. I believe the creature's name is Base or something like that, since that's what the creature calls itself. They have given me the new name of Gospel, and I like it a lot more than Clyde. I hope I will spend many more Minecraft years with this kind creature…
